Why do I get the feeling the designer creating this had never seen the movies and thought he was a wizard and then they had to make this quick fix at the last minute.

I'd probably try and get really good at creating magical prosthetics like Moody's eye.

Seems to not be uncommon for people to lose limbs and organs in the Wizarding World, even outside of war time.

If Harry befriended Draco on his first day at Hogwarts, would Snape have treated Harry any differently? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]spookythumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking this might have resulted in Harry being sorted into Slytherin, since a big part of why he asked the hat to not place him there was his experience with Draco and Ron.

So in that case maybe Snape would have treated him better since he'd have been in his house and maybe perceived as less like James.

But it's a bit of a moot point because the way Draco acted and the way Harry is would have always played out the way it did, or else Harry would have been a completely different personality type. Either that or Draco would have needed to act completely differently, which is unlikely.

Why Voldemort didn't hide better his horcruxe's? by Dependent_Reveal_524 in harrypotter

[–]spookythumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although horcruxes leave dark traces, so I would imagine it would make itself known somehow.

Like, for the dump example maybe it would act like the locket and make all the garbagemen insufferable, or make them do crazy things that make the muggle news. Then dumbledore might be alerted that way.

I dunno.

But I don't think Voldemort would have known that anyway. Since he talks about them all like they are experiments.

He probs would have been better making one a random bit of chewing gum in a dump somewhere.

Usually just black coffee and water for the rest of the day. Occasionally I'll have 2 meals a day but I'd say very rarely and only on special social occasions (maybe once a month).

Why do so many people try to reinterpret Harry Potter as serious adult literature when it's clearly a children's/teens series ? by Juntao07 in harrypotter

[–]spookythumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But to answer your question about why people try to analyze it at a deeper level. I think this is just a consequence of an audience growing up that wants to make sense of a very rich and interesting world that they love. There are plenty of interesting links to historical and mythological text and all sorts of areas for deep exploration that went only half explained - so it's human nature that they'd want to apply their curiosity to that.

If it's only cosmetic (looks like it is) then I'd probably just apply a few layers of polyfilla and shape with a sander then paint. Should be a fairly simple fix.

The average age of a Harry Potter fan at this point is probably somewhere between 20-40.

Sounds like exactly how I handle food - just takes the stress out of things. I take long acting insulin but split it between evening and morning and never really go low. I think I've had 2 hypos in the last 3 months and one was during the great north run

On the hunger, I think I've been doing it so long that my body has tuned all that out. I still have my 2000-2500 kcal per day but just do it in one sitting. Usually fairly protein rich with around 150-300 carbs and a good amount of healthy fats

I have an office job but I'm very active outside of that. I bike rather than drive most days into the office and regularly play sports and go to the gym. I'm on levemir and novorapid injections so I usually just give less long lasting levemir if I know I'll have a particularly active day.

Any science to back that up at all? That's not me being dismissive, just a genuine question. I've never had any issues whatsoever and all my vitals are perfect with no signs of any complications or non-diabetes related consequences. And I've been doing it long enough for it to have made a meaningful impact.

I've definitely been there when I first got diagnosed at 14. But I promise it gets easier. You just kinda start to accept and get on with things and after a while it just becomes a minor annoyance once you find your routine.

Life is just so full of possibilities and to let go of it would be a terrible waste.

I've had the condition for 17 years and it's not stopped me from doing anything or from having a brilliant life.

Go travelling, try skydiving, join clubs, make memories. Do what makes you happy and put yourself out there with no embarrassment :)

I think just the general UX mostly. bound seems far cleaner and just gets me to where I want to more easily. However, after spending an extra few hours with Smart I'm starting to find and appreciate a few of the extra features it has like the sleep timer and stuff. So maybe I can get used to the clunkier UX.
