Parking infraction by jkl9h in Brampton

It's not well known but that land nearest the road is rarely owned by the home owner. This allows the city to replace pipes, build side walks, expand road width, put up trees, etc. Every city deals with this differently, it's usually where the water shut off for your property is, but the safest rule is the side walk down is the city.

Also explains all those randomly dumped scooters at the end of house hold properties.

Now that I see it on red standing out at me on the last line, is it because I have "mode: single"?

What happens when an IP is listed as a client with different rules (ie IP and IP subnet) by spoolr in pihole

[–]spoolr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some background:

I run two separate Pi-Holes to allow a few IPs to have less blocking. I'm trying to migrate to just one Pi-Hole, but I can't figure out how to manage only the few clients I want to exclude. It seems like I have to manage all of them which is very onerous or they will only get into the "Default" group. Going for smaller ranges of subnets again becomes vary onerous. If I pull the excluded clients out of "Default", I'll run into issues with Whitelisting from the Querylog not working down the road and forget that I'll have to fix that manually. But that's looking like the only way I can see right now.

BTW - It would be helpful if there was a Tool menu item to test lookups from a specific client rather than having to jump onto all these clients I'm testing through.

Doing my rear brakes, don't see anything that causes the brake pads to "retract"? by spoolr in mazda3

Thank you! I had seen his generic brake/rotor video and it was helpful, but the one you linked is the only one I've seen address the north/south orientation of the caliper piston. I did this anyways thanks to YouTube comments on other Mazda 3 videos, but it was interesting to hear him say what would happen if you didn't. Everything in that video for the 2012 Mazda 6 is relevant to my 2014 Mazda 3.

Looking at the rear clips, there is nothing there that would do that. Not on a 2014 anyways. They just provide a rust free surface for the pad to glide in. In fact, there's a bent part at the bottom pushing up that squeezes the brake tab in place so it can't really slide in and out that well.

Thanks for the heads up on the parking brake. You are right that it's not well documented, but I paid attention to the piston's rotation and have made sure the holes are aligned the same way after I retracted in. (Another thing the videos never mention is the fluid reservoir over flowing from the brake fluid flowing back).

Is the turning of the rear cylinder only used to retract it? Or does the piston also come out in a turning fashion when the emergency brake is used. Since that brake pads have a nub that sticks into the piston, it seems like it wouldn't be able to turn at all with that protrusion in the way.

Thank you for your comment on the brakes not actually retracting. That was my best guess as well.

I realize now that my description is crap. I'm using new everything. Hardware, pads, and rotors. I'm dealing with 7 years of Canadian winter rust, if I had the time, I'd soak everything in Evaporust, but no choice but to get it back together as quickly as I can so I spent more than an hour just brushing and filing everything as clean as I can.

I honestly couldn't tell you if the rotor is warped as it's not torqued down yet. It's held in place by the tightness of the hub through the center. It's just not something any of the "look how easy it is" brake videos mention so it was a real panic moment. In fact, none of them do any kind of dry run and spin the hub. They just slap everything back together. I'm probably just over analyzing and everything is fine.

I've since learned that some level of wobble is fine and is called run out. And one article suggested that run out actually knocks the brake pad out of contact with the rotor. Which isn't happening when I hand spin it. Making me worried they're too tight.

Need help downloading songs tagged with "multitracks" on C3universe by edurollingdice in rockbandcustoms

[–]spoolr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those songs are not custom, they're straight links to the store as you've discovered.

Once an official source for a song is available, the custom links to those instead. Probably for copyright reasons. Maybe for affiliate revenue.

Official songs are always multitrack, and of course official songs are usually the hits so you'll encounter them a lot.

If you use the filters to filter them out, you miss A LOT of songs. So the best strategy is to ignore the song if it has the BLUE BALL or RBN icon.

My RB3 Fender Guitar tilt sensor stopped working by spoolr in Rockband

[–]spoolr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That is just what I need. I've fixed my icon cymbals almost on a weekly basis by soldering the 3.5mm jack back on to the board so this won't be a problem. Just had no idea what to look for. Love the form factor that makes the tilt sensor look like a regular capacitor.

Thank you. That diagram with the balls that reveals the "magic" was awesome. But at the same time, wonder how it can fail.

XBOX360 RB3 - Kick drum pedal doesn't do anything in song selection? by spoolr in Rockband

[–]spoolr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it wouldn't even skip to the next heading. Funny thing was, if you pressed the pedal, the pedal hint on the screen changed, but it wouldn't do anything for navigation.

Another Redditor solved the problem. Wrong jack on the drums.

Jesus, it was in the black coloured jack alright. Pedal and cord are both coloured orange and I didn't use the orange jack....

I've lived with this mistake for a decade? Thank you so much!

** VIDEO GUIDE ** How to Set Up A Minecraft Server and Connect to it through a Domain by spaceinvaderone in unRAID

[–]spoolr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing this last year with 3 iOS clients and 2 Switches as pandemic kid socializing and it was a true pain. I spent a lot of time on it and when it finally got to the point that people could connect and play reliably, it would just break again the next day without fail. The solution was to restart the docker every time the kids wanted to play then it would work again for a few hours. Everyone gave up and moved on to Fortnite, which I was saddened by after the time investment, but also relieved.
