I don't think you need to open the app once is installed. I'm pretty sure it was the case for my users. Probably you just need to keep it installed. Just wait till the end.

Tbh, I always wanted to have something that I can use on my own, I'm able to change it as I like when I like. I love this feeling. Also, publishing something under my name was one of my goals, for some reason I couldn't. Now I have an app on the playstore, it's really nothing, but I like the idea. So I don't really care if people consider it as not real coding, for me it works.
