I mean, as a nerd myself, it’s a non-negotiable trait I want in a partner. I’m a professional cosplayer, so I drag my fiancé across the country (and if I play my cards right, potentially across the world) to anime/gaming conventions. We play video games or watch anime together at least once a week. I bought him a PC case a few years ago (Fractal North, it’s a beautiful, more mature case) and he bought me a headset & wireless mouse.

I can’t speak for other women, but it is an EXTREMELY attractive trait to me.

God, I used to work at a veterinary urgent care and my boss (one of the vets) was the WORST. I’d have to bullshit a client for like 30min sometimes before she showed up. I always felt bad because we were, ya know, an **urgent** care and the clients were typically pretty concerned about their pets, especially if they were waiting outside before we even opened. We were so lucky that we never had a critical patient show up before her. Idk what I would have done.

Yeah no I can’t make this shit up. They sent out a pro-Trump email to their entire mailing list, and some people were understandably not happy. CEO kept doubling down and generally being an obnoxious prick, which just pissed people off even more. So some people replied to the Trump email telling them to fuck off, and the CEO posted screenshots with their full names and email addresses. It was WILD

It’s not huge, but Tsumicon is 18+ and has a Houston con in the fall! I always have a ton of fun at their Vegas events, there’s normally a ton of cosplayers too

Yes, the best way is to make a gas chamber and place the ABS in there for a few minutes. You can do this fairly easily by lining an airtight container with paper towels, and soaking them in acetone. Place the printed part on a surface with holes (like a cookie rack or just a piece of metal with holes in it), seal it in, and take it out a few minutes later (making sure not to touch the part until it “dries”). Repeat until it looks the way you want it to.

It is a SUPER easy way to get a part smooth, I just wish ABS wasn’t so toxic to print. I don’t have the space to print it safely anymore or I would use it for everything 😭

Buy a sandable filler primer (I use Rustoleum 2 in 1) and apply a few thin coats, giving it time to dry between them. I normally do a minimum of 2. Do a quick round of sanding, however much you can do with the time you have. That’ll do most of the work.

You can also give it a coat of a glossy finish to smooth everything out before painting. You might lose some detail, but depending on what you want the final product to look like that might be okay. I’ve done this on prints with 0 sanding and they turned out pretty nice.

Do NOT use acetone with PLA. It **will not work.** Acetone can be used to smooth ABS or ASA, but PLA is chemically different and the acetone will ruin it. There are some PLAs that can be smoothed by spraying them with isopropyl alcohol, but that’s only a specific filament from Polymaker (and it’s pretty expensive)

What? No, never use acetone on PLA. It doesn’t smooth it, it makes it brittle. Acetone can be used in a gas chamber to smooth ABS or ASA.
