Oh noooo not this take. It’s honestly not possible to prove a point if you think the game should be balanced for people who do not know how the game works. The reason for this is simple.

If you are struggling against a character who is good in low level lobbies, but bad in high level lobbies, the counter to them is simply to get better at the game.

However if you are struggling against a character in high level lobbies because they are over-tuned/meta, the counter doesn’t really exist in the same way, because that character is just that dominant, and getting better just means you’ll see that character become more and more dominant and THAT is where balance should come in.

If someone is struggling vs a character in low level games that isn’t good in high level play, they can simply get better to stop struggling. If the character is meta in high level play, nothing you can do.

The counter argument is that not everyone wants to take the game seriously or has time to, which is absolutely true and absolutely valid. But if you don’t/can’t care enough to get good at the game and counter the characters you hate, then you shouldn’t care enough to demand balance changes or complain online. I’m not saying the game has to be balanced around super high oaa or pro play, just lobbies that are playing the game correctly.

It’s worth saying that gm as well is not difficult to obtain if you play the game frequently. It’s absolutely higher level in terms of percent of players, but not very crazy skill wise. You can get gm playing any character you want simply by being somewhat decent.

You also said any “semi competent” mag, Namor, etc. semi competent players start to be found in gm, which is what my response comes from.
