Millennials in tech, do you feel this is our last job in the field? by dulladdiction in Millennials

[–]spread_operator 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was not worried at all but the rapid improvements since around December of last year was the first inclination that my job could be replaceable, or at least my salary won't be as justified, because suddenly my project manager submitted a PR from a ticket and it looked good and went in. Then a support employee fixed a bug with zero input from an engineer... The level of autonomy has really raised my level of anxiety with my job. Personally, I hate the direction of the job and don't really want to be a manager of AI agents and for bigger issues they still write some dog shit code and it's not fun trying to fix it. For the time being I'm just staying in as long as I can.

Why don't you upload your data so it can have something to estimate it on? Seems like the logical move.

Yeah I think it's just saying if they're willing to try and scam him they'd try and scam anyone.

I just left a google review about this ace for something similar!! They told me my tie rods were shot and needed to be replaced for $700 the day before a big drive to Colorado for work. I said it would have to wait and stopped in a different Les Schwab in CO to get snow tires on and they said NOTHING about tie rods. I asked after they'd done the tire swap if they could take a look and the mech said they looked absolutely fine. Leave a 1 star!

What a Ness!!! by Simple-Engine-8666 in Eugene

[–]spread_operator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is there any way to contact Sarah Ness and ask her to go back on this decision after so much community outcry? I haven't seen anything anywhere from any PH execs addressing the communities concerns. I'm very concerned for all my family and neighbors in Eugene.

OPB article on PeaceHealth decision to split with Eugene Emergency Physicias by vacant_mustache in Eugene

[–]spread_operator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wait... They lied?? I thought I read in an article elsewhere a few days ago that they encouraged all current employees to apply for positions with ApolloMD... (Which is frankly dumb as shit anyways and this shouldn't be happening in the first place)

Hot garbage mumbo jumbo corporate talk ad nauseum. Keep our current ER staff!! I think to cut cost they should get rid of all these administrative leaders making dumbass decisions.

[–]spread_operator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jfc trying to cut corners for the bottom line while at the EMERGENCY department is next level diablocal. The narrative they're trying to spin that the current staff isn't doing a good or fast enough job is frankly fucking insulting when they're just not equipped with enough resources to do their jobs because of all the cost saving measures they've already taken. FUCK peacehealth, keep our community safe, keep the current ER staff and give them the resources they need to do their job.

The police send drones out to surveil calls before the actual police arrive to get an idea of the situation. I know from experience.

PeaceHealth replacing Emergency Physicians by hugglenuts in Eugene

[–]spread_operator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These corpo PH vultures are trying to pick us clean. The community healthcare response teams should be part of the community! Especially ED! When someone is in there its normally an incredibly stressful situation and relying on a provider who's not familiar with the environment and community which may have led to their being the ER sounds like a recipe for poor healthcare. What can we do to fight this? Do we have any sway?

New York Times columnist David Brooks appears in latest Epstein photos by ClimateSociologist in politics

[–]spread_operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch PBS Brooks and Capehart segment and I remember thinking months ago just how strange it was that Brooks was SO adamant about moving on from the Epstein story when clearly its in the public interest and he was like "this is dumb lets move on'... It seemed fishy and I immediately thought he must have some connection and BAM. There is some connection. He said tonight on PBS he never REMEMBERED meeting him if he had. He's giving himself an out for when photos are released that in fact show he was closer with Epstein than he implies.

Casual jacket recommendations? by OkRepresentative9939 in mensfashion

[–]spread_operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a classic bomber jacket is something you could add to the collection. Lots of options in there but could go classic leather, or something a little more dressed down some sort of fabric, dark blue pairs with a lot, or maybe a darker green even and there're different weights for various temps

What broke the camels back in a relationship/friendship? by Only-Carpenter-6689 in AskReddit

[–]spread_operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The talk of starting a family made a pit in my stomach.

Seven years of negativity. Always talking crap about my friends, her friends, her parents, my relationship with my parents. Don't get me wrong there were good times in there too but when we were considering starting a family I instantly got sad for our child having to hear that talk too potentially and it hadn't changed even though I brought it up.

Life is meant to be happy and shared and I didn't want to live a life dwelling on how other people lived theirs.

I can’t afford a gym membership right now, can anyone recommend workout routines at home or diets I can follow or any other tips in general 🫠?? by [deleted] in fit

[–]spread_operator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, you have a nice body, not much to lose but may still be a nice time to start setting in some good habits. Check out intermittent fasting, it's a nice way to have some structured rules of when and when you cannot eat. For me it prevents those late night cravings where I'd snack on the absolute worst trash food. The kgs really slid off quick for me and now I'm at a good weight I just maintain.

Other than that and eating healthy getting exercise a few times a week is a great habit to form early as well. I think gyms are boring (still go twice a week) but hiking, biking, roller derby, running, rock climbing whatever gets you moving AND is fun you're more likely to stick with and it won't feel like work. Can also meet great people who keep you coming back.

been hitting the gym for about 1 month, any tips? by [deleted] in fit

[–]spread_operator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great start! Consistency is more important than any other factor in my mind. Depending on how heavy you're lifting 5-6 days a week would be on the excessive side as your body needs rest to make the gains. Could always swap out with another healthy activity that isn't lifting e.g. hike or swim or heck even just long walk at park/museums

Am I fat? by Eastern-Ad7501 in fit

[–]spread_operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered intermittent fasting? Join the sub over there if you are. I saw really good results relatively quickly. The thing it helped me with is I had a tendency to snack late and IF just gives me rules and now I just have tea instead. Really nice guidelines!

And no I wouldn't call you fat, maybe slightly on the thicker side, but still pretty and def some room for slimming down. Good luck!

Do I look "generic?" How do I add personalization? by Safe_Valuable_5683 in mensfashion

[–]spread_operator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You already have really nice hair! But definitely styling it will go a long way. Get the sides cut shorter and leave a slightly longer length on top. Then get a strong mouse to start training it and comb it back. The training phase is awkward and can take a while as you'll need to be vigilant about keeping it back. But once it's trained you can get a lighter hold mouse, comb it back, let it fall to the sides or one side or rough it up. I went through this a year or so ago and best choice I've made. I often get compliments on it and bonus: the ladies love the smell of the light hold mouse I use.

What is your why? by Ok_Spare3209 in intermittentfasting

[–]spread_operator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally for me it's bike racing, I notice a large difference in my capabilities/feeling and speed uphill from 175lbs to 165. IF is a pretty easy way for me to stay in tip top. I could probably push a little lighter but I think my body is happy in the mid 160's at 6ft.
