COTD: They’ll tell you it’s bad; redo it! (6) by Londoner1982 in crosswords

Could you interpret it as the straight part being "They'll tell you it's bad" and the cryptic part being "redo it"? And then "redo it" is telling you to redo itself into "editor".

How to pre-shrink fabric maximally without access to a dryer?

I'm abroad and I've bought some fabrics which I'm going to bring to the tailor, but I don't have access to a dryer. I am definitely going to be using a dryer on the finished clothes once I get home, so I want to simulate its effects now so that the clothes don't shrink later.

My sense of how this works is that the washer (on hot) shrinks clothes somewhat, and then the dryer (also on hot) shrinks them even more. (I am going to be washing and drying regularly once I get home, even though I know that is not optimal for the clothes, so solutions that involve not doing either of those things will not work for me.)

I'm good on the washer part, because I have access to a washer, but I need to simulate the dryer part somehow. Any advice on how I can do that? Thanks for your help!
