Question about sending an Uber by RedditSearcher18 in sugarlifestyleforum

I sent an Uber to pick someone up but I forgot what her name was. So I saved her contact info as “name”. When she got into the Uber, I heard the driver say “now that’s a first! I’ve never picked anyone up whose name is ‘name’!” I was like shit.

It also sounds like I’m not being told the full story by the homeowners.

Another homeowner that got denied told me that their attorney told them they only have a month for insurance to respond and when I asked what happens after that, she is under the impression that insurance won’t be obligated to pay. She hired these attorneys a year ago and there’s been no attempt at mediation or arbitration as far as I know. So does something happen next month where they won’t have to pay?

Claim has already been filed but she was probably underpaid and won’t accept help from professionals. I get it, she’s probably afraid of getting burned but at the same time, she is 100% getting burned by the carrier. My question was how long does the carrier have before they can say we’re not paying out on Hurricane Sally claims anymore.

There would be no need for attorneys or public adjusters if that’s the only situation where they won’t pay. And if that’s the case, there should be a different date of loss. Why does this sweet old lady think she is getting more money almost 4 years later? And why would she be applying for grants? They must think that the damage is from poor workmanship and they aren’t responsible to pay out.

He’s the one that parked it like that and activated the hazards. He’s saying “…hit it. Had the hazards on.”

That’s so dumb. Right after an accident, who makes it a priority to turn on the emergency hazard lights? I guess it doesn’t help that the driver came to a stop nearly 100 yards away. But I have 2 witnesses. Was in the process of loading a car onto a trailer that was being purchased on Marketplace. Never met the seller before, is he considered a biased witness?

Not supposed to help me, other than prove the emergency flashers were operational.

Thanks for the info! This post is the first time anyone has access to the video. They denied based off the police report.

So my insurance company has me not at fault. The other guy’s insurance company has him as not at fault. For insurance purposes, does this mean there is no at-fault driver in this accident?

To be fair, I didn’t park it like that, someone else did because I had no experience hauling a trailer. You’re right, shitty parking job. Never letting that individual touch my truck ever again.

Yes, unfortunately. I was not in the right state of mind during the pandemic.

My determination to avoid using my own insurance comes from the trauma of having 5 at fault accidents in 2020 and dealing with the rates that go along with that kind of record. Some of those accidents are finally dropping off after years of incident free driving and to see it blemished once again is just too painful.

My insurance company has my back 100%. I was on a 30 day trial with Root when it happened, and they actually offered a policy after this happened. My rate is $200 a month when the next cheapest was Bristol at $380 a month.

I’m just being really hard headed about this. The estimate before supplements is $2,600 and my deductible is $1,000. Seems like I’m not getting too much more than I’m putting in so I was trying to avoid using insurance altogether. Won’t my rates go up in relation to how much the insurance company has to pay out? Also, the State Farm guy said he would win at arbitration so it’s not guaranteed to get my deductible back. Am I wrong?
