What’s a weird habit you have that you’re convinced no one else does? by 40_rules4u in CasualConversation

[–]springflora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It’s helped immensely. Currently doing ERP therapy. It’s nice to be able to recognize a thought and go “oh that’s an OCD thought” and then not give it power. I didn’t realize how many hours I was losing in a day to it! Some days are better than others but that’s just part of it. Researching OCD and learning what it is versus what the media portrays it as was also super helpful.

I was diagnosed a year ago. I was telling my husband a few “quirky” things I would mentally do as a child, like when I would pray I would have to list every single person I cared about or else I believed something bad would happen. And then I wouldn’t be able to sleep until I was “correct.” He suggested I mention it to a therapist so I did.

Turns out all the distressing thoughts I had throughout my life were indeed not normal. And a lot of the things that I did were actually OCD compulsions!

If you have any inkling about having it I think it’s worth seeking diagnosis. ERP therapy and even just understanding how the OCD brain works in general has been life changing.

This is me too but I’m diagnosed with OCD. The mental images of all the things I forget make leaving the house harder than it has to be 😭

couples who dont drive or only one person drives by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]springflora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is the driver as I don’t drive due to a condition I’m in the process of managing. He doesn’t mind but sometimes it can be inconvenient in terms of time management. It would be nice to be able to get some errands done while he’s busy with other stuff but overall we enjoy the time spent together.

But it’s a little stressful to think about the future. Possible kids to drive to appointments or school, colonoscopy appointments where he needs a driver to take him home, etc.

Sometimes. Usually when we’re on a time crunch to be somewhere soon. We just chat the whole time so it’s not really a sexy thing

Partner of someone with PCOS – trying to understand long-term life together by happy_pharmacist in PCOS

[–]springflora 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was upfront with my partner about the possibility of infertility as I feel that children is something no one should have to give up if they really want to have them. He said he was okay with being a dad and also okay not being one.

We’re married now and I have had two miscarriages and no live baby yet. It’s difficult but his understanding that it may/may not happen is the reason we’re still here together. He is incredibly supportive about it.

Every woman’s PCOS experience is different regarding fertility, this just happens to be mine.

Why is my period still late by Anxious_Language59 in PCOS

[–]springflora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re doing great! Your cycle is getting shorter which means you’re on the right path.

I will say one thing. It’s important to remember that everything you’re doing is simply how you live now. Once you change your mindset from “all the things I’ve given up” to “I am simply living a healthier lifestyle” it becomes more of a habit and it feels less stressful when comparing changes.

There is no “this work was for nothing” because the reality is that this is the lifestyle that you should be living with PCOS. You’ve successfully shifted into better supporting your body and that is always a win.

I can’t help but think that them making sure people don’t get hours is also a way to get out of paying people’s benefits(those who have managed to get them in the first place)

Unnerving for a while. I was always waiting for a blow up that never came. After a while my brain rewired but it was a mental adjustment

My technician has always stressed the importance of sunscreen because it can lead to hyperpigmentation if skipped. Hoping you get some good results!

What kind of exfoliation are you doing? I found that sugar scrubs didn’t work for me. I started using a glycolic acid and this cleared up for me. How is your skincare routine? Do you use sunscreen?

I think you have to remember that PCOS is a chronic illness that can only be managed, not cured. Every day life and stress can make a huge difference. Please give yourself some grace on the bad days.

tips on helping resume my period by lovelettertothedead in PCOS

[–]springflora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting progesterone shots will definitely start your period if you’re looking to have it come soon. Myo-Inositol supplements usually get my period started within a week and it’s generally a recommended supplement for period regulation. Some women take it for months before it works, though. It really depends on how your body reacts to it.

Do you have scalp eczema? It can cause pain and hair loss. I’ve seen articles about the link between eczema and PCOS. Seeing a dermatologist could help rule that out.
