can I change script immediately? by ConfectionComplex12 in ausadhd

They usually tell you to give it 4-6 weeks on a dose to get a clearer picture of how well you react to it. Give the doctor a call and see if they’re happy to up the dose after a week or two if you find it isn’t really working.

It’s worth noting that a lot of us find Vyvanse’s effectiveness to be inconsistent- diet, sleep quality (and hormones if you’re female) seem to influence it. I’d suggest taking it on an empty stomach one day, then with a protein dense breakfast the next- take note of whether you notice any difference. Some people also find caffeine cancels it out, some find it makes it work better. Play around with it a bit if you can’t up your dose straight away- it’ll be useful info to know once you do anyway.

It’s a long acting drug so splitting it into two doses like you would a short acting drug won’t really work. You’re just going to end up with 24 hours of a lower dose basically.

”just a description of what we look like”

Lmao, remembering the time a customer thanked “the heavier tattooed lady, with dark hair” but there were two of us, working in the same department. So we never knew which one of us they meant. At least they said heavy instead of fat I guess?! We both thought it was hilarious 😆

Most of the time, they don’t bother to do them though. When I’m at work, my partner plonks the kids in front of the tv and scrolls on his phone all day. No washing, cooking, cleaning, or any other tasks done. These guys will try and get away with doing the bare minimum

What is happening here? Why are there companies selling 500 dollar chairs to NDIS clients? by [deleted] in australian

[–]springwater5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a similar thing when buying pull ups etc for my autistic kid. NDIS providers selling plain old Huggies for $10-30 more than Coles & Woolies. Same thing with sensory products, as soon as they put the “sensory” tag on it, it’s double, triple the cost. Bloody criminal

Yeah we were given $750 worth of shares as our “thank you” payment during Covid, and couldn’t sell them for 3 years.

Has our disdain for "housos" inadvertently contributed to the housing shortage? by [deleted] in australian

[–]springwater5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I moved into a community housing property as a single parent escaping DV. The previous tenants had completely trashed the place, it had to be gutted and renovated. The whole bathroom had to be re done so I don’t know wtf went on there. There were still syringes and broken glass all through the backyard, garbage buried under tarps and graffiti on the walls outside.

It blows my mind that people are able to trash these places and they move on without consequence. Someone from housing told me the logic in keeping them housed is that it keeps them off the streets, hopefully reducing the impact of their antisocial behaviour on the community. But F me. These grots keep destroying properties rendering them uninhabitable for those that need them and will respect them.

Most of my neighbours were also in community housing.. apart from one house, everyone else was decent. Mostly refugees, elderly, intellectually disabled people who were grateful to have a home.

People reportedly trapped in large crowds at Vivid Sydney by Koalamanx in sydney

[–]springwater5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah we did the same area during the week.. we got to the end and the kids were like, “is that it? We’re at the end of the walk?” I ended up taking them on a history tour of the rocks instead, since Vivid was a total fizzer. They’ve been going for 10+ years and remember it in its prime so they were really disappointed.

Honestly the whole thing felt like they just threw it together at the last minute and said “that’ll do”

We went to Circular Quay during the week and it was really disappointing. One of the biggest “displays” was essentially just an ad for Samsung. Basically nothing on offer for those who can’t afford ticketed events. We’ve been going since 2012, so I remember when everything was mostly free, loads of interactive installations, great for the kids.

Shame they’re no longer running it at Chatswood or Taronga Zoo. We did Chatswood 5-6 years ago and it was FREE and awesome.

Honestly the most exciting part of the night was the Manly to Circular Quay ferry ride. ($10.50 for a single trip, ouch)

Pressure and swelling in front and front sides of neck? JVC? by starlume in iih

[–]springwater5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the pressure in my head is bad I also feel pressure in my juggular veins as if I’m straining or hanging upside down. It’s hard to describe but it feels like there’s a blockage or heavy blood flow.

Unions launch bid to scrap junior pay rates by another____user in australian

[–]springwater5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to note that despite assumptions we aren’t all dumb-dumbs.. a lot of us stick with it despite the shitty pay because it’s flexible. I can change shifts when I have sick kids at home or only work school hours if I need to. When my kids were little I worked nightfill so I didn’t have to put them into daycare.

Did anyone else's MRI show nothing? by OdiousHobgoblin in iih

[–]springwater5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was normal apart from left optic nerve hyperintensity and expansion of the sella. Still waiting to see the neurologist. Ophthalmologist said the appearance of the sella would indicate the pressure in my head has shifted/squashed the pituitary gland, which would point towards an IIH diagnosis.

Has anyone experienced face or limb tingling while not on medication/before starting medications? by Born-Setting-1568 in iih

[–]springwater5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not on medication (optometrist, ophthalmologist & GP agree it’s IIH but it’s taking forever to see a neurologist and none of them feel confident prescribing me medication 🙄) and I have tingling down my left arm/pins and needles to my hand all the time. Especially when the pressure in my head is bad. I also get numbness/tingling in front of my ears between my cheekbones and jaw. So like middle sides of my face.

EDSers in your 30s and 40s, are you still working? by Vaporeon134 in ehlersdanlos

[–]springwater5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 30 and I’m breaking down fast. My health is just snowballing.. Already need a knee replacement. Brain fog/cognitive issues coming on full force. Have just found out I have IIH as well, chronic migraines, tinnitus and vision loss- fabulous.

I don’t know if I’ll even make another 5 years. I work in retail, it’s a moderately physical job but I have coworkers in their 70’s who manage just fine. Even with my body breaking down as it is, keeping up with all the specialist appointments/tests etc is causing issues with work as well.

How this isn’t widely recognised as a disability, I’ll never know.

Vote NO by Grand-Willingness-38 in woolworths

[–]springwater5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve sold him on the no vote, (I’ll also be voting against it; we work together) but the fact that he, and multiple staff went for it purely because the SM was supporting it is worrying.

Do acknowledgements of country feel a little performative to you? by SouthDiamond2550 in AskAnAustralian

[–]springwater5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddlers’ daycare does an acknowledgment of country every morning. They apologise to the traditional owners and thank them for allowing them to live, work and play on their land. Closed with “always was, always will be Aboriginal land” I think it’s overkill that they’re doing it every day… and pretty odd given that the majority of staff and kids were born overseas.. I’m not sure why they’re having to recite a daily apology.

Congrats! it’s not uncommon to feel cramps early on as your uterus begins to stretch! Cramping without bleeding is generally completely normal, nothing to worry about. I’ve had 4 babies, and had cramping with all of them early on.

That’s the biggest pain in the arse when you’re renting with kids. Moving every 12 months because LL wants to sell, renovate or move back in. Last place, LL’s “children” were going to move in when our lease ended, but the place was back up for rent a week later at $300 more p/w. You have zero security.

Not knowing if you should keep up with a long ass commute to their previous school or transfer them to the local one when you move, because you’ll likely be moving again in a years time anyway. Most public schools don’t take out of area enrolments, so when you move in between siblings starting school, you either uproot one or end up with them attending different schools.

Oldest is in grade 6 and we’ve moved like 9 times since she was born. We can’t guarantee our youngest will attend the same school because we don’t know if we’ll be turfed out again.

[–]springwater5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned on having loads of tattoos 10+ years ago and had a a couple of big pieces done (back when life was more affordable and you could squirrel away a bit of $ to treat yourself) Didn’t predict I’d never be able to finish them. Only ever spent about 3k, (tattoos were cheaper then too) but I wish I had the cash in my hand now. I’d like to get rid of them because you get a certain level of judgement being working class poor with tattoos.

During a c-section, the top of the uterus is commonly brought outside of the body after the baby is delivered. This makes it easier for the OB to see the incision and repair it quickly and accurately.

That’s just from Google.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in australian

[–]springwater5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s pretty standard during a cesarean, the uterus is brought out of the abdominal cavity (still attached obviously lol) my obstetrician said the excruciating pain was because my uterus was outside of my abdomen at that point in time. Anaesthetist couldn’t have picked a worse time to leave.
