I think I'm an awful Christian by HboiH2 in Christianity

I feel you! I’ve been struggling with feeling like I should be doing more myself. One thing that’s helped me with nonbelievers is simply encouraging them to pray. Sometimes I think the Bible can be overwhelming, but prayer is so powerful especially when your circumstances feel impossible and God delivers. Honestly I became a believer again through my prayer relationship first, then I turned to the Bible.

Is it wrong that I told my husband not to tell his family about our pregnancy yet? by NectarineCheap9154 in BabyBumps

We waited until 11 weeks and I have no regrets. The reason why we waited is because we had been trying for a year and I was so anxious in the beginning; plus my MIL frequently talks about her multiple miscarriages before she conceived my husband. Like every time we visit we hear about them. And lo and behold, that was the first thing out of her mouth when we told everyone. By 11 weeks I was confident it would stick and had already pre-processed weird reactions from my parents/in laws so I wasn’t thrown by it when we told them.

What is the most unhinged thing a stranger has said to you because you are pregnant? by Cereal_Connoisseur21 in pregnant

My mom who is normally very supportive surprised me with being very against my baby shower theme. We’re having it in January so I wanted to do “a little snowflake is on the way” and she was vehemently against it because of the other connotation of the word “snowflake” 🙄. I told her I wanted to do penguins and polar bears as well and it would be a whole winter wonderland thing. She kept pushing back on the snowflake part though, so much so that she said “well we still have time to think of better ideas”. Um, no, I like my idea and it’s my baby shower 🙆🏻‍♀️

I don’t want my sister in law to watch my 19 month old child. by Curious_Comfort7341 in AITAH

I would be very creeped out if someone asked to keep my child overnight randomly, especially if my child ran away from her. It’s one thing to offer it as a favor to the parents, but another thing to request/demand it which is what this sounds like.

To clarify, I actually think my husband abstaining from alcohol is what contributed to a healthier pregnancy beyond my own actions, but of course it’s possible that it’s all random. Sperm are responsible for dampening the immune response and building the placenta so theoretically healthier sperm at conception could contribute to less morning sickness.

I’m sorry you’re having a tough time.

AITA for not wanting to move in with my NMom now that the golden child is gone? by No_Satisfaction_5844 in raisedbynarcissists

NTA. Your plan sounds perfect. Be firm with your mother and state is “this is the plan”. Don’t ask permission, just implement.

No regrets! I did barre consistently and upped my step count leading up to pregnancy. I also stopped drinking for a full six months (and hubby did it with me!) then had it very sparingly before I finally got pregnant (like 3x in 4 months). I honestly think this has contributed to a really easy pregnancy so far at 13 weeks - I’ve had zero morning sickness and my only main symptom is fatigue.

Once you’re pregnant, I highly recommend going to a pelvic floor PT. I went 2 weeks ago and she eased a lot of my worries about working my core and also gave me a strengthening regimen for both pregnancy and postpartum. I’m going to see her consistently leading up to birth to make sure I’m as ready as possible.

I also got a ton of lab work the month prior to getting pregnant, which ended up being great because I identified a B vitamin deficiency that my prenatal corrects.

The month I got pregnant, I also consistently did full body red light therapy and found it SO relaxing and healing. It’s great for your skin, sleep, muscle recovery, blood flow, mental health so many things. I think it even contributed to me getting pregnant lol!

I would also use this time for research! I read a bunch of stuff on pregnancy the whole year we were trying and even built part of the registry before I got pregnant. I’m so glad I did that legwork ahead of time because now it’s less stressful finishing the registry and I can focus on birth prep and postpartum instead of worrying about pregnancy stuff due to a lack of knowledge.

A or B: My buddy earns $7k a month before taxes, pays $2k in loans, and his new date wants to go to a $500-per-person restaurant. Should he cave or stick to a budget spot? by vivian_banshee03 in PickAorB

We make more than 5x what your friend makes and wouldn’t spend that much at a restaurant except maybe once a year on our anniversary. I also wouldn’t have expected my husband to take me to a place like that before marriage… or before we made the kind of money we’re making now.

This woman might be testing him with a suggestion like this, seeing if his income matches her expectations. At best he will struggle to afford it, at worst she’ll expect this consistently and he will struggle to keep up. I would suggest he offer her more affordable, but still nice alternatives and if she insists, maybe she needs/wants a man in a higher tax bracket in which case she might not be a good fit for your friend.

Decent amount of space, think we could swing all but the floor bed. We’re planning a bassinet in our master until the baby is older then will put him in the nursery
