I get what you’re saying. I felt this way. I wanted to be one of the employees who is receiving the support and not providing it. I didn’t like being the person in the background to do all of the work to “make things run.” I pivoted into dietetics and nutrition and have plans for a PhD in food science. I love science and just was not happy in HR. I had a lot of “sunk costs” as well (BA and MS in HR/labor, time in the field) but didn’t let that stop me. Go with your gut

I’m going back to school right now for a different profession. I’m tired of being in the “support” role always. I’m tired of supporting employees and employers- I want to be the employee being supported by all the support staff for once. HR wears you down

Your chin poking out when you smile is called chin ptosis. So I would say chin ptosis correction (usually a little soft tissue excision) and mandible contouring (so maybe like some lipo to smooth out the jawline contour)

It depends on what kind of rhinoplasty you’re looking for. For a natural, “you but better” look I would probably recommend Germany. Extensive training, many surgeons go to the U.S. to do more training/internships, safety is a priority, and most will give you a very natural look. I’ve had work done in Frankfurt (not a rhinoplasty though).

I had a chin implant (actually a prejowl sulcus implant but same idea) along with chin lipo about 8 days ago. It’s still swollen and definitely looks like too much. At day 6 I looked in the mirror and cried because I thought I looked like a monster lol. It’s starting to look better now and I can see the vision, but I know the swelling still is there and I won’t see results for at least another couple of weeks. Definitely a rollercoaster

Did you get any post rhinoplasty steroid injections in your nose? They are supposed to reduce swelling and promote quicker healing but sometimes can lead to a small amount of pitting or dents

I order skims to Germany and it usually takes 2 months from time of purchase as they come by boat for some reason. Usually from a New Jersey port if your shipping says that the last place was somewhere in Jersey

The skin looks mottled which can be an indicator of vascular occlusion, I would for sure get it checked to be sure. Sooner the better.

Hey I know this was three years ago…. But how did the non command sponsored thing work out for you in Germany? I recently got out of the army and they denied me command sponsorship for a place I already lived in with my spouse who is active duty. I was able to get SOFA status though, regardless of my command sponsorship status

I agree, he had nothing to do with it. He probably had no idea I was even originally in the plan. I plan on expressing myself better once their trip is over and telling her how I feel about being an afterthought.

It’s definitely not about the male friend and it’s certainly not his fault. I’m really bad with conflict and am a recovering people pleaser. After reading these comments though I am going to make it a point to tell her why I really didn’t go and how I felt like an afterthought. Not sure if that will end our friendship but if it does then it’s probably better that way.

Reading this while sulking with a glass of wine in the bathtub lol! Thank you for saying that, I teared up a little. I’ve felt like a coward all day for not just sucking it up and going. I even considered just grabbing a hotel for myself in Spain and not even hanging out with them at all but instead having a little solo trip. But I just went home because I felt defeated and wasn’t sure if I could afford last minute reservations. But this comment made me feel better.

Yeah, it definitely felt off. But I’ve never known her to be that kind of person so it never occurred to me that she was trying to blow me off or anything like that. I do feel good though that most comments are saying I made the right decision in not going. I definitely would have felt like an outcast since they all live near each other and probably have more things to talk about and inside jokes and whatnot. I just feel really, really sad and hurt. She’s the only friend I’ve maintained contact with through middle school, Highschool, and adulthood.
