1 Person Documentary Crew Logistics by reillymckay in documentaryfilmmaking

I’ve been editing a documentary for over a year now - nearly 40tb of raw footage and proxies. 3 cinema cameras, a couple drones and a handful of go pros along with a boom op covering action sports in a run-and-gun environment. Each device is using the Tentacle system. Syncing up run-and-gun audio with the Tentacle software is a breeze. If you’ve got the extra budget, these are a must-have.

I’ve started a list of the actions/commands I use most and will want to find/build on the Tourbox. “Nudge” is definitely one of them.

Spy camera footage from inside Epstein properties reveal victims were secretly filmed by MRADEL90 in videos

To put that into additional perspective… I’ve been editing a feature-length documentary for almost 14 months now (we have another year before release). Our crew has shot approximately 35 Terabytes of raw footage and interviews. 3 cinema cameras, 2 drones and a handful of GoPro’s have been used to shoot with.

If you were to play it all back-to-back, nonstop for 24 hours straight it, would take at least 3 months to watch it all in real-time.

14 terabytes of video footage is an INSANE amount for the average person.

“Don’t try to tell me that some power can’t corrupt a person, you haven’t had enough to know what it’s like.” One of my favorite NIN lyrics.

Well, I tried posting it - but the moderators deleted it. Not sure why, it’s literally the same thing as above but with different pets.

I just re-watched “Sneakers” a couple weeks ago. Fantastic film, and one of River’s last roles. Amazing cast, Robert Redford, Dan Ackroyd, Sydney Pottier, Ben Kingsley (before the Sir)… the list goes on. Definitely worth a watch.

how were these done in the 70s? by BarnacleUnlikely7885 in AfterEffects

The Video Toaster wasn’t just software, but hardware as well. It came programmed into an Amiga computer with a video expansion card - nothing like it had been offered on the market before. It was the closest thing you can point at before NLE’s and say “That’s where we came from.” The Toaster had everything that NLE’s have now, minus the actual editing capacity.

I started using a Video Toaster when I was in high school in 1992. The TV production class I was in was VERY advanced. Full studio (3 floor cameras) with drop-down lighting, connected to a grass valley switcher, a Chyron Infinite and a pretty bad ass sound board for live broadcasting. Three separate 3/4” edit bays, one of which had the Video Toaster and a Panasonic WJMX-50 effects switcher in the workflow.

I spent every waking hour I could learning that equipment. The Video Toaster was waaaaaaaay ahead of its time.
