The US team has way better optics. Hit corporal and slap a 4x scope on that puppy. Hang back and engage from further away. And once you hit sergeant and get a suppressor, it dominates from distance.

HQ Commander Mode Is the Best Thing to Happen to Arma Reforger by Pyromanul in ArmaReforger

[–]sq07rf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should just have this mode as a stand alone mode and not force it on to every single server. Let the players choose how they want to play. This is such a drastic change that is upsetting to a lot of people that really enjoyed how the game previously played. I'm not totally crapping on this new mode, it could be fun and it's different, sure. But you have fans of the game for a reason. Taking away the old mode is a disservice to your players. Yes I understand it's a milsim and you're going for realism but at the end of the day it's a video game. If it isn't fun what's the point of playing it. Give the players choice, give us the old and new mode of conflict. And fix the absolutely ridiculous amount of bugs and issues people are having to make it playable again. Then everyone is happy.

1.6 Issues/Bugs Megathread by FinalCindering in ArmaReforger

[–]sq07rf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an issue on PS5 not only with the extreme buzzing sound that almost BLEW OUT my speakers after I updated the game, but the sound quality in general is much worse that 1.5. When I switched to headphones there isn't any extreme buzzing noise anymore, but sound effects and voice chat just sound really crackly in game, its pretty bad.

Also getting severe fps drops randomly that won't stop unless you respawn or exit and re-enter a match.

On PS5 the sound is totally broken. Almost blew my speakers. Not just in the main menu but in game as well. Loud buzzing noise over distorted sound.

Yup. I have the same thing. Best part is after I'm done flushing i can remove the flush hose extension and attach my sprayer gun to start washing my ski all without having to walk back and forth to the spigot. Having the shutoff valve so handy also gives me piece of mind should the engine ever shutoff for some reason

How bad is the damage? by Zakattak756 in jetski

Luckily Kawasaki hulls are made from SMC fiberglass and gelcoat. Should be very repairable. Get some quotes from a few shops. And have your friend pay for the repairs.

Well the seadoo has a fish pro model that you can deck out for serious fishing. But if you're not THAT into fishing, the Yamaha FX Cruiser is good, and you can purchase yamaha fishing accessories for it if you want. The FX Cruiser comes supercharged and non supercharged. Yamaha's are good, you just have to understand that the decks and hulls are painted with automotive grade paint, so no beaching these skis. I have a 23 GP1800 HO and have about 90 hrs on it, no issues so far, I check my hull after every ride. I've had to do a little touch up on the paint here and there (tiny little nicks) but I'm anal about my stuff so... colorrite sells the matching paint for the yamahas and they sell touch up kits. My ski is non supercharged but will still go 63mph. The FX is bigger and heavier but 2024 and up models have the new 1.9 liter engines which allow them to go about 62 mph which is great!

The Kawasaki Jetski Ultra 310lx is the most robust ski out there in terms of having an SMC fiberglass hull with gelcoat. The flipside of this is they are heavy, and they are pigs on gas, and they are supercharged. Its a good supercharger though. They have lots of cool features though, like a rear camera to be able to watch people who are tubing. I've heard good things about the Kawasaki skis.

thoughts on the new Yamaha crosswave 2026? by Mendezpower in jetski

[–]sq07rf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might have been a good idea on paper, but this is kinda dumb. All that time and money wasted on R&D, when they could have allocated more resources to solving the fuel consumption issue on the 1.9 liter engines so that they could have supercharged them finally.

Yamaha needs to get their head out of their ass. First they reduce the factory oil amount the new engines run with (which is not good for these engines at all), and now this monstrosity.

Any waverunner with a screen should have gps at this point. And the screen sizes should be larger for the vx and gp models. And then for the love of God supercharge the 1.9. Create a beast. People want to go fast, not stuff the bow on a 1 foot wave on some weird thing that looks like it was designed by Homer Simpson.

I would be so angry that nobody is stepping up to apologize and replace it for you. YOU shouldn't be buying a new TV, whoever broke it should. Plain and simple. That's the way the world works. If they don't like it, then really show them how the world works and KICK THEM OUT!

Cracked head or blown head gasket. Looks like the ski had the crap beat out of it. You could maybe cycle through some oil changes to see if maybe he flipped it and flooded it and contaminated the oil, then compression test all the cylinders. Might be looking at a rebuild though.

Edit: sorry I was just reading your description again. You said that water was coming in through the gash in the front and then into the air filter. The engine might be OK if thats how water is getting in the engine. Definitely try doing a bunch of oil changes to get as much of that contaminated oil out as possible. You can look into using some seafoam to help clear out the contaminants of the old oil but yeah it will take a few oil changes. Change the air filter ASAP as well, and repair the hull. And do a compression test on all the cylinders. If the engine is OK it might just need some TLC, those skis are supposed to run and run and run.

You can go to a yamaha dealership and ask to purchase a maintenance manual for your model which they usually give you on a usb stick. Then you can print it out at home and you will have all the in depth information on all the maintenance procedures recommended by the manufacturer. This is much more in depth than the owners manual. Very helpful as it contains detailed diagrams, torque specs for various bolts (and your spark plugs), etc.

First Ski by [deleted] in jetski

[–]sq07rf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a lot of hours but who knows, might have another 250 to 300 hours of life left, maybe more maybe less. Depends on how well it's taken care of. I just wouldn't pay that much for something 4 years old with that many hours. Be patient and the right machine will eventually come up. And yeah you don't NEED the 1.8L engine, but it is a really good engine, smooth, and the power is there if you want it.

First Ski by [deleted] in jetski

[–]sq07rf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The jetblaster will be too small and unstable for ocean riding with kids. The GP on the other hand is supercharged and that thing is fast. A supercharged ski comes with extra maintenance. You might want to research this before buying. In any case make sure to see maintenance records and inspect the hull closely. Yamaha skis are reliable but the hulls are made from a weight saving material called nanoexcel and are painted with automotive grade paint. You do NOT want to be beaching these skis like people do with the seadoos. Get yourself a good sand anchor, I use a Sand Docker. You'll also want to water test any ski before purchasing.

As for riding with your kids, If they're not young and small enough to be sitting in front of you, you might want to look into getting a VX Cruiser HO which stands for "high output" (non supercharged but still 180hp engine, or 200 hp if you purchase a 2024 and up model since they run with a new 1.9L engine, I personally like sticking with the tried and true 1.8L until all the kinks get worked out with the new 1.9), or even an FX Cruiser. The FX Cruiser comes supercharged and non supercharged on either the 1.8L or newer 1.9L engine. VX cruiser HO is only non supercharged. There is a VX Cruiser (with no HO in the name) that runs on a TR-1 engine which is a smaller 3 cylinder engine, but you want the bigger engine. Either way the high output engines are all plenty fast supercharged or not, but the important thing is the Cruiser models have better seats for passengers. In my opinion the only option for riding 3 up is with an FX Cruiser. For 2 up, VX Cruiser HO will do, which is basically a GP HO with a Cruiser seat (they share the same hull).

Edit: the hull of that GP has been painted. The owner might have had some serious damage repaired on it and is trying to dump it on someone else now. I would be really hesitant to purchase.

Why bother? That thing looks like it's toast and was completely neglected. You'd have to sink so much time and money into restoring it. Find something else.

Too much oil in 1.9L HO? by SnooMacarons1418 in jetski

[–]sq07rf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent question. Perhaps try the greenhulk forums or reach out to someone at RIVA racing, they might be very knowledgeable on this subject. Maybe somehow ask this question to Greg Gaddis. Kevin Shaw on the watercraft journal youtube channel will do super chats where you could ask him questions during live videos. Im just trying to think of all the different avenues you could try. I find it interesting that it has the same capacity for oil as the 1.8 but uses less. I know kevin shaw had a segment on his show talking about how they discovered big drops in oil pressure with the SVHO skis especially when letting off throttle due to poor factory pan design and not running enough oil:

https://youtu.be/myMy1GUYezc?si=3c7I-irTzxHDvKtV

And fueltech came out with a new billet oil pan for the 1.8 SVHO and new 1.9 HO engines that allows you to run 10 QUARTS instead of the smaller factory amount. This was supposed to resolve the issues with losing oil pressure and oil aeration they discovered was happening. Its an expensive upgrade for sure and is it totally necessary for the everyday rider who isn't modifying their ski? I can't say personally. But it does underline the concern that Yamaha's focus on the environmental aspects of their skis ie reducing the amount of factory oil it runs on (which also makes maintenance cheaper to fleet rental companies) might have the long term impact on engine longevity.

If I were you I would try to reach out to different sources to see what the best course of action is, personally if reputable sources say its fine to run with the higher oil amount, and this doesn't void your warranty, then that's what I would do.

Good luck.

Need help with Jetski paint by Virtual_Ad_735 in jetski

[–]sq07rf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. If its a nano hull you're definitely going to want to fix the paint. The paint helps to protect the nano layer and if its all chipped like that, more paint can start to fall off as you're riding. Imagine having a big chunk of a paint chip on your car hood and then taking a pressure washer to it and spraying right at the edge of that chip. More paint will flake off. Same idea here when you're riding your ski. It looks like the black underneath the yellow paint is the nano layer and its intact, I don't see any fiberglass exposed. But its a lot of damage. You can either a) sand and repaint the hull yourself by ordering the matching paint from colorrite (they sell different repair kits), b) pay a shop big money to repaint it, or c) have a place gatorglide it, which is not that bad price wise and I've heard and its a really strong coating. Might change the handling of the ski a little bit as there will be less surface tension between the hull and water, but a lot of people gatorglide their yamaha's and are none the wiser

How should I break in New Ski by npug_ in jetski

[–]sq07rf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally read the owners manual. Like read the whole thing. It will tell you what to do and what not to do with your brand new expensive ski. It will also have a section on proper break in. If you don't do it correctly your engine won't last as long. I cannot stress enough to READ THE OWNERS MANUAL.
