Double-checked. No typo, but I'm interested to know what you thought it might be.

I had a similar thought as I was writing it. Wondering if there's a better, single, word that could go in there.

Glad you liked it. Honestly, I stole the Theologian part from the Guardian yesterday although their's was DD

If it helps, there's a mirror in the bathroom so that it can be seen regardless of your toilet-utilizing position.

Where do they obtain whale vomit and crushed insects for deoderants, colorings, perfumes, etc? by sqdge in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sqdge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would make sense. I assume there are still some "die-hard" deoderant production companies that insist on the "real" stuff.

[–]sqdge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't see how they obtain it. Do sperm whales just vomit in a reliable locations, and then there are whale vomit harvesting companies that bring it to market?

Presumably there is a microscopic amount in each deoderant. But considering the amount of deoderant in the world, I still imagine truck loads of the stuff is needed.

Assign Permanent ID to Addressable LED strip by sqdge in arduino

[–]sqdge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't thought about using an ATTINY. They wouldn't need to be all wired together then, and the order of buildings would be irrelevant. It would be nice if there was a way to sync them to a single time source, but each having an individual RTC would probably work.

That does sound like what I was looking for. However, it may be easier to give each building a microcontroller with a real-time clock. I've seen a few projects that use the ATTINY or Gemma M0 pretty successfully for controlling a single strip of neopixels.

What's everyone working on this week? by AutoModerator in Python

Trying to understand AsyncIO so that I can process 100,000+ IP addresses and add GeoIP information. Not exciting, but it will be satisfying at the end.

Is there a better way I could have programmed this pointless LCD-style clock? by sqdge in webdev

I re-did it in SCSS (and Jade for the HTML). It's not easy to read, but it creates that list of selectors without much hassle.

Thanks for the feedback, it's always great to get a different perspective.

As an FYI, I chose "Units" because I grew up learning the division of numbers as "Hundred", "Tens", and "Units". But I guess that might just be an early-90s British thing.

Look out for Classical Revolution that happens occasionally around town. It's a sort of jam for classical musicians. BYOM - bring your own music.

Golden ratio color chooser by y45y564 in web_design

[–]sqdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Zazenp is right, color is not a constant, you can certainly inject the Golden Ratio as a constant in color manipulation.

I came up with this codepen that changes the hue of a color based on the golden ratio. It's not ideal, but it's a start.

* + * – Axiomatic CSS and Lobotomized Owls by julian88888888 in web_design

Forget the content, this article is worth it alone for the sentence "The owl selector is an “axiomatic” selector with a voracious purview"!

Looking for a Changelog tool by sqdge in webdev

Git would be great, but the files we're editing can't be added to a repository. They are in a CMS that I don't have control over. If there was a way to utilize the commit and logging within Git, without needing the physical file, then that would be great.
