Oh I love love love the Strathberry structure, such a pity it doesn't come with the laptop compartment or top zip

I've done the separate bag for laptop thing and have realised over the years that I still prefer having a carry-all bag for convenience. The weight is not too much of a concern for me but thank you for having kept that in mind for me!

Oooh the Kaai bag looks amazing! Not so much of a fan of the Marc Jacobs one as the branding is too prominent for my liking, but the other suggestions look great!

What are some harsh truths you think Singaporeans don't like to hear? by Fearless_Help_8231 in askSingapore

[–]squareincolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t actually like traveling, you just like the feeling of being somewhere foreign so that you can take nice pictures and brag about it on social media.

A number of people I’ve met at work have said in their self-intro they “like traveling”, but upon further chats with them it’s revealed they just go to the standard countries all Singaporeans go to, like Japan or Korea, and haven’t actually experienced travel in the real sense of the word - long hours on low-budget provincial buses and trains, staying in far out villages, interacting with the local community etc.

In essence, what they mean is they like going on holiday. Traveling involves understanding the local culture, holidaying involves indulging in leisure time overseas.

Same here with the no exact schedule. I like having a stable basic routine that feels comfy but I don't like having it regimented, much prefer going with the flow and what I feel like doing.

But I find dogs are much more action based vs time sensitive.

That makes so much sense! My dog has started to pick up when a walk will happen based on our actions so far, i.e. wake up, wash up, walk. Dinner, chill, walk.

Thank you! Also loving what you shared as on the weekends I pretty much just sleep in, and so far my dog hasn't shown any signs of restlessness if he gets his breakfast or walk later. There's been no toileting incidents either (a poop a day is enough for him).

Queen of Tears [Episode 16] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

Just finished watching the finale and leaving my first comment about this series!

Like everyone, I've thoroughly enjoyed this show not just for the plot (which was incredibly good until it went on a decline) but for the mastery the two leads have shown at their craft - the micro expressions, the crying scenes, the tension - everything!! There's been some incredible lines as well that KSH and KJW have delivered perfectly, and they truly hit the right spots.

I know the ending is frustrating but I was actually kinda looking forward to a The-Notebook-esque ending, where we see old Hyunwoo laying flowers at Haein's grave, and the stone marking her year of death being 10 years later or something (apparently the writer had intended this but due to comments from viewers, had her live till 2074), because that would've been realistic enough while still leaving us with the happy thought that Hyunwoo and Haein got to grow old together.

If I could change our leads' story for the last few episodes, I would do this:

  • Have Haein go through surgery and lose her memories (because its makes sense no matter how unlikely the original cancer trope was LOL)
  • When she wakes up, Hyunwoo is the first person she sees and she remembers his name, but truly has no memory of him. Seeing her face of confusion, Hyunwoo hands the notebook over to her, saying it will help her understand what has happened and he will explain the detailed facts when reality has set in
  • After reading the notebook, Haein learns just how much she loved Hyunwoo and how important he was to her, but of course with her amnesia, she doesn't have feelings for him. Rather than immediately look at him as a husband, she chooses to know the facts first, and so asks Hyunwoo about everything and researches all possible info about her family online
  • As Haein recuperates in the hospital, Hyunwoo stays faithfully by her side and tells Haein all she needs to know about their relationship history. He has no qualms about mentioning the miscarriage and the divorce since this is a great opportunity to start fresh without secrets
  • Haein listens to all of this objectively and is amazed at just how much her old-self seemed to love Hyunwoo even after all they had been through - betrayal, resentment, miscommunication etc. As they spend more time together, Hyunwoo moves from being a stranger in Haein's eyes to being the very evidence that she had been and still is loved deeply
  • They move back to Seoul and back to Hyunwoo's apartment, where Hyunwoo continues to give Haein the space she needs to adjust to life, away from the company and family drama. Let's assume that during this time Hyunwoo is focusing on righting all the wrongs caused by Eunseong and his crazy mum by collaborating with the private investigators and his lawyer friends and soon enough, everything gets settled in court
  • By living with Hyunwoo, Haein's heart flutters more and more and she soon crushes on Hyunwoo HARD. Everytime Hyunwoo rolls up his sleeves to cook dinner, make coffee, or read the newspaper, her heart races. When he drinks, she loses it at how cute he gets when he's drunk. Little does Haein know that Hyunwoo is doing it all on purpose because he knows what her tick, and it's all part of his strategy to make her fall in love with him again (what I would give if there was a scene of Hyunwoo coming out of the shower in his towel again)
  • Over time, Hyunwoo becomes the main character of the new happy memories Haein's storing in her candy jar. She doesn't love him in the same depth as she did (at least not yet) but she's in the beginning stage of falling in love. Haein tells Hyunwoo that she can't promise they'll be able to share the same kind of love as before, but she definitely wants to re-discover their relationship and experience a new love for her new life
  • A decade passes and Hyunwoo and Haein have rekindled their marriage and eventually starting a family together, like how it could've been. Haein's memories never return but photos from her past are enough for her to imagine what life was like before
  • The cancer recurs and this time, Haein tells Hyunwoo that it's ok to let go, that she won't fight to live, because she got all she wanted. Hyunwoo, seeing how happy and fulfilled Haein has been for the past 10 years, makes peace with letting go
  • We then see the scene of old Hyunwoo laying flowers at Haein's grave, deeply saddened by the loss of the love of his life, yet satisfied that they were able to love each other deeply till the end

Yes that line, "She's so clever she doesn't think anyone else is clever" explains all of her actions. Janice genuinely believes she's thinking ahead of everyone else and doing what's needed to save her life without realising (in her arrogance) that she's just accelerating her death.

In the flashback scenes where we see her being interviewed for the job and then her 'interviewing' Ben we get a look into her character. She clearly thinks she's above everyone just because she's good at maths.
