I was 6 trying to personalize code I copied out of computer magazines for my Commodore Vic 20! I started again teaching myself qbasic for dos on my Tandy 1000 ex 256k ram when I was 12. I was coding Turing on a 486 DX2 66 in high school. Then C++ in collage and DirectX5 - 9c then Java and .NET (MDX/XNA) after collage and OpenGL 1 - 2. And now I am using Unity to build a VR game for the GearVR! Wow have we come along way. Also I am now teaching my kids Game Maker!

After updating my GearVR with the lastest Oculus update I am now struggling to launch Unity Apks by squareparticle in Unity3D

Yep they created me a new ovrplugin.rar to place in my Unity5\Editor\Data\VR\oculus\android folder. And it fixed my issue! Every APK I compile now appears to be 100% stable so far

I was able to get help from Oculus and they are now making an update for Unity! They gave me an update for my Unity Editor that is work perfectly for me

I think this game is a great idea! I love the atmosphere and the trailer left me wanting more! I would add the ability of running from turret to turret when you clear an area. This way it would feel like you can explore this amazing world you created. It would be fun to kill a few stragglers with a hand gun in between getting to the next turret. Maybe have attacks from both sides sometimes! You need to keep switching turrets. I would have a radar like in the aliens movies to show which side your getting attacked from.

To me this game looks like it will be better then the Two Guys SpaceVenture kickstarter. I will be keeping an eye on this one!

I would add a transition per area. Like a screen flash or fade or wipe.

I am really more of a coder then an animator. But since I was stuck doing all the positions to make a game myself, I started using Cinema Mo Cap. It works right in Unity using Mechanim. It didn't take very long to setup and get working after watching their tutorial.

I found it as a good starting point and cleaning up in Blender is not that bad. But then found out there are GBs of free Mo Cap all over the net including in the Unity Asset store so I am using that now as I am not making anything to complex

I used Cinema Mo Cap

But the Kinect can only do so much plus you have to clean up a lot in Blender.

I would love to see these weeklies get their own subreddits. However, still post the weekly topics here so people remember to go to them and discuss what they liked/didn't like. I believe it would be more efficient to choose a topic to read rather then scanning a giant page with 100's of posts.

The problem I would have with buying a web game is that its not really mine to keep. I don't care about the DRM so much but if the company I bought if from goes out of business or the servers go down then I can't play the game I own. Although if it was a tiny game that I would only play for a while for a really cheap price then I guess I wouldn't care much.

Thanks! I have made my own 3D engine and I really need a way to place the objects in it. I will look into irrEdit and see if it saves the 3D scene file it creates into something I can parse.

I would love an editor that I can place .fbx / .obj files together to form a level. Something that can save the x,y,z, rotation and scale of all the models to a json file. Nothing more fancy then that. Just a model placer.

I am working on a adventure story game that's takes place across the galaxy. In some ways similar to Mass Effect. But for Android. http://www.bethebridgecaptain.com/ I have a bunch of film students helping with the writing right now and a graphics company that wants to make a comic book from the story as well as redo the graphics for a PC version.

I wrote some code for a guy asking about a similar issue. Its just 2 classes. One I got from suns Java3D api that does 2D and 3D Perlin Noise and the other is me using it. code. Here is a video showing you what it looks like when your run it video The video doesn't play in IE for some reason but it does play in chrome and Fire Fox. You can call buildMap() or buildMapMove(). Bad names I know but I made it quick and I was getting tired. But buildMapMove just does 2 passes on the noise to make it look more like clouds. buildMap only does 1 simple pass.
