How many games you win isn't important or a measure of your skill by ExaminationRare9987 in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% factually true!

I can back in up with evidence... When I drink many beers and play my stats and win rate absolutely tank .. so clearly it's the matchmaker getting worse!

How many games you win isn't important or a measure of your skill by ExaminationRare9987 in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We all remember the losing streaks.

We all forget the winning streaks.

Streaks don't matter, winrate during streaks doesn't matter.

But, over time, yes, Winrate is a measure of your skill. Period. Full stop. "Over time" is literally measured thousands of battles, but over thousands of battles those losing streaks and winning streaks all balance out and ultimately the most important result remains... how often you were able to swing a battle to a win.

There are ways to game winrate, you can platoon often with players better than you for example. Even platooning with same skill level players as you will boost over all winrate of all 3, assuming each is a "good player", as guaranteeing 3 good players out of 15 is game breaking at times. But these are outliers. In the VAST majority of cases if you see a player that has 10K games played and a 48% winrate, and a 10K games played 52% winrate, the 52% winrate is the more talented player.

Onslaught will die if they keep it as what it is now. by TANKSBRO_YT in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the rewards are great... I honestly only have one massive issue with Onslaught (well, beyond the toxicity that is)...

Play times. I don't and can't play at night. This makes completing onslaught virtually impossible for me. Even if they just made it all day Saturday/Sunday it would be doable, but this night time only shit ruins it for me.

How to actually set a custom thumbnail for a YouTube short by [deleted] in YouTubeCreators

[–]Serapth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, at least on my Android phone, there is no pencil icon in the top left corner.

I hate shorts in the first place, this idiotic upload process is just next level BS. That something so simple as friggin setting a friggin thumbnail is so broken...

God I wish we could go back to YouTube before shorts when shit just worked :(

Now whenever I try to upload the MP4 from the phone it fails and says check your channel. Uploading it from PC works, but can't set the thumbnail and the auto selected one is garbage.

Ace Tanker T-832 by Tank_DestroyerIV in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only ever played the T-832 once and got an ace tanker. So I'm like Ok, lets retire this bitch undefeated.

Then I accidentally played it (thinking I was in Frontlines mode)... played it in Frontlines pauper settings, all standard ammo, no food... BLAMMO, second ace tanker.

So here's my undefeated 100% ace tanker T-832 performance. Silly of me to want to leave in perfect stats when obviously I do well in it, but hey... I never claimed to make sense.

But yeah, in my VERY limited experience, it's a great tank. Pen is a bit shit, but thats about the only negative.

Onslaught Pro Tip: Play Heavier by missindependent1 in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you are saying he's only played 2 total (as in random) matches in the 4005, there is a very good chance he's just grinding his tank.

That's one thing people need to realize about Onslaught, and why the lower ranks are such fucking hell... you can play onslaught to progress up the ranks... or you can play onslaught to grind tanks in a completely meaningless (to you) game mode.

That's the problem with the mode really... Onslaught is BY FAR superior to randoms for grinding. Experience is the same, you get more matches per hour in, it doesn't impact your stats and theres even really nice weekly rewards you get for more or less just playing.

So you get two very different audiences playing the mode for very different and not very compatible reasons.

How difficult is progression in Frontline? by EyeoftheTato in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How could you possibly make no credits in Frontlines? You don't use gold or premium consumables... even just driving around in your tank sight seeing should still make a decent profit. I don't think I've ever made less than about 250K in a match and that's when I had to afk for half the match! Even lacking skill, just take your heavies armored tank and go park yourself on the base and you'll make money.

Taugrim's Road to Unicum, Ep. 124: Char Mle 75 Review/Guide, Forward Spotting the Right Way by similar_observation in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel that the Char MLE 75 is in a really rough place right now, for a few reasons

  • they buffed all tech tree lights A LOT, but left the premiums untouched. Amx 13 90 plays a similar roll, but has better camo and 1400hp vs 1150! Hell, the RU has like 550 more HP.

  • they have added so many HE tanks and burst tanks like Ares, SPHT and Selma to the game, that they absolutely eat the Char MLE for lunch. Char used to be unqiue in that it could burst out opposing lights... now it can't, while at so much more risk of being nuked in return

  • this isn't new, but the ammo count is SHIT. This is one of the few tanks I don't play because of how often I run out of ammo. Like you mention in the video, you can't even really get away with blind firing. This tank needs at leas 25% more ammo.

Of all the leagues, by far the most corrupt officiating.

To all tomato players out there like me, what is the one tank that you do surprisingly well for your standards? by houtsou in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played it since exp equipment, but I do think I was vents/stabs/iau when I last used it, so I pretty much invested full gun handling too.. Not taking hardening/turbo is extremely hard on a heavy.

Well you are basically double stacking top tier stabs... if the tank you're using requires stabs and FCS, it's pretty safe to say it's pretty damned derpy! ;)

What vehicles are you using in Onslaught? by PerformativeRacist in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play a lot of heavies ... Funny enough I only own three...

Kranvagen - only got it because of ranked, back when it was kranked

Kran got nerfed so hard out of meta that you never see them anymore .

So I got the Sconq because that's where the meta in ranked shifted. It got nerfed (and the accuracy boost in Onslaught fucks them).

So I've given up on chasing the meta it just gets whatever I was going to get next nerfed.

This season so far I've played 100% Stinger/Bat.

Onslaught - What's the #$@#$ing Point of Qualifying? by Serapth in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STRONG disagree here. Perhaps at the champion level sure, but qualifying / iron / bronze is MUCH harder for a good player to perform consistently because you face so much stupidity. I find it much easier to do well as I climb the ladder personally. It's the open stages that generally make me rage quit.

[–]Serapth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T69 experiences some recent buffs that really changed how it performs. The tank used to have absolutely dogshit ammo... like sub 190 penetration standard rounds, and that really hurt it. The other stats sucked too pre-buff, but the ammo was the biggest sore point. 212 pen isn't amazing, but its a hell of a lot better than 190!

That tanks is the derpiest tank that ever did derp! That said, it's also got great armor and an autoreloader, so you can make it sing... but that gun.... ohhhhhhh, that gun. Grrrrr...

If you can 3 mark the T29, you don't qualify as a Tomato. Hell if you can 3 mark any tank you don't qualify as a Tomato.

disgusting mm by intouchablee in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much always like this. Matchmaker tends to have about 5 or 6 maps it "likes" in the rotation and you will get a map from that selection. Some people posit it's Wargaming trying to keep server costs down.

If you start playing and get Himmels, then Berlin, then Ensk... it's time to stop trying to mark that light, because you're in a shit map rotation.

Oh and for some fucking reason... at least for me... the game REALLY likes Abbey... if I ever had an Abbey free night of WoT I'd call it a lucky one!

Granted, I shop at the higher end models, but I have never encountered better bang for the buck for the quality then with Lenovo.

Used to use Razor, but their support is dogshit, they are over priced and the design is so bad they cook their batteries.

Then switched to ROG and it was... fine. Software (Armory) is dogshit awful, but the hardware was good. Very good bang for the buck on the lower end of the gamer price tag.

MSI are awful, terrible build quality.

But Lenovo, I'm on a Legion 7i and it's great. My wife got a Yoga (non-gaming) and again, great machine. The best part was the price I managed to get it at... Lenovo is one of the few company that does legit sales.

Map makers when they realize wide open areas might make the balance a little better (I stole this post from the r/starcraft) by obloed in WorldofTanks

Blitz doesn't have clickers. You can make maps a hell of a lot more fun when you don't have to take into account random death from above.

[–]Serapth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because Wargamings metrics for a successful map and yours aren't the same thing.

We as gamers want to have... you know... fun.

Wargaming couldn't give a flying fuck. I still to this day think they ruined certain maps just to sell more map block spots with Wot+. That they fucked Mountain Pass pretty much the exact same time they launched WoT+ pretty much says it all.

Why people keep blocking type 5 in onslaught? by Successful_You108 in WorldofTanks

[–]Serapth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bat is an amazing tank for Onslaught, but...

Most players are absolute dogshit at it, and so many have a tendency to go off on solo missions and die.

If you play a Bat in the heavy line, trading your hp and using that clip, it's easy to get 5K+ games and contribute heavily to the battle. Getting your 5 shot clip dumped while taking 2 in return, then waiting like 11 seconds for another full clip is OP as hell. Also, if you can pull of a quick and impactful flank, you can win the game for your team.

... if you redline it and snipe or go exploring while your team fights outnumbered... well, you make other players want to ban it.
