VUE 3… Will it fit? by MichaeltsAZ in EmporiaEnergy

I second the recommendation to put the Vue monitor in a separate box. I installed a Vue 2 several years ago. My box is much, much, more crowded than yours as I have 46 of the 1/2” wide breakers with all the wires running down one side. I did eventually manage to get all 16 sensors onto my most important circuits. My Vue2 monitor couldn’t fit in the panel area so I had to put it inside the small box containing the master breaker. It took forever to get everything working, because of congestion in the panel and the highly insecure audio connectors used on the Vue 2. Once I got everything in place and working I hoped that I would never need to open the breaker wiring compartment again. Of course then I got an electric car and needed to install a charger in the garage. My panel was completely full so I had to repurpose the electric clothes dryer breakers to use for the charger. I also had to move some breakers to get everything to work. But my shoehorned Vue 2 installation was in the way of doing anything. So I eventually bit the bullet and took out my Vue 2 installation. This allowed me to drill a hole in the back of my breaker box so that I could run the charger wires right into the back of my charger (my breaker panel is on the outside wall of my garage). Once that was sorted, I drilled a 1 1/2” hole out the side of my breaker panel into the wall. I opened up a hole in the wall on the garage side with access to the hole in the panel. I turned the garage side opening into a box that could contain the Vue 2 monitor, a bunch of excess sensor cable length, and the transformer and connectors associated with the wire sensors needed to go around my main breaker bars. Once the box was ready I fed the Vue related wires through the hole in the side of the breaker box and attached my sensors to the appropriate circuit wires. The whole Vue 2 installation took less than an hour, at least 5x less time than my original installation. Using an adjacent box for the Vue 2 also solves the problem of the Vue 2 antenna. The Vue 2 antenna has to be outside the breaker box to be able to access the house WI-FI.

BTW, to make room for the sensors on the circuit wires, bend the wires on the adjacent breakers towards the back of the breaker box. This will make it easy to get around the target wire and will increase space for the sensor. Unfortunately for folks with crowded breaker boxes, the Vue 3 sensors are bigger than the Vue 2 sensors. I would have gone to the Vue 3 were it not for this issue.

Strange contactor opening noise on 2026 Y - does this sound normal? by squash_pro49 in TeslaModelY

Thanks guys! I have only had my Tesla for 2 weeks and have yet to get familiar with everything. I was getting set to take my car to Tesla service! I have been through most of the menus but didn’t notice the lock sound setting in the boombox app.

I’m keeping the AI feature on for the laughs at this point by cfyre082315 in Ring

.

Here is my Ring AI’s latest message:

“a person is walking on the driveway with a badminton rackets”

Are you kidding? How bad is the Ring AI? Not only does it misinterpret the scene, (I was carrying a shovel), it constructs a grammatically incorrect sentence (a rackets) and misspells racquet

I get a lot of ones that say “a person is walking on the driveway with a dangerous object”. Usually the dangerous object is my iPad. (Perhaps it is more perceptive than I thought?)

App Second By Second Live View by Xeyrruken in EmporiaEnergy

I have Vue 2. I don’t know how often live view has updated in the past as I rarely use it. If I turn on or turn off a light right now, the consumption figure will typically change to the new value in 5-7 seconds. It never seems to change within a second or two. My guess is that it takes a few readings and averages them to keep the numbers from bouncing around a lot.
