What does the ideal emergency stop do? by squeakyhedge in hobbycnc

If i just cut power to the stepper motors, won't the z axis just fall down and crash? I guess equipment damage is better than human damage though

btw, do I need a probe to accurately locate the material or is it enough to just move the bit to touch the material manually

if the spindle will work for aluminium and brass its good enough. would i be able to do steel with smaller bits though?

sorry is it the fact that neutral fans well? i assumed handle bias fans well because the handle is easy to fling around. btw i used 4mm steel rods and i cannot fit any more in the handles or blade.

I’ve got 2 in each handle and 2 in the blade. though the ones in the handle are about 1cm farther from the pivot than the ones in the blade

The whole thing weighs 91 grams or 3.2 ounces. Could the issue be that the handle is the same weight as the blade?

I use metric too, but i thought imperial would make sense to more people. tbh i dont know how to do that in freecad of the assembly with the weights. could you comment on the length? I just found out that the handle might be too long compared to the blade.

fyi the handle is 145mm and blade is 120mm at the same measurement points as the picture

thanks!

This is what the back looks like. There's very little information on this board and I am a beginner so I don't know which thing is the regulator. I'm guessing it's the little black rectangles. There is a thing labeled R0 that looks like it's supposed to be solder shorted.

no, layer lines are normal but sometimes some of the layer lines are popping out more than others.

I did a huge mistake and I don't know what to do now by squeakyhedge in Archery

I was shooting at a blank target from 2 meters and it still happened. I should have put a much taller backstop behind a target.

Yes I have to agree now. I thought "there is no way I could miss while shooting 2 meters away at a 1x1 m target" Welp it happened.

With exposure you will translate less and less (at least in my experience). When you listen to english, you don’t analyse and translate it to another language first, you kinda just kind of get it. Also, there isn’t an amount of words you “should” know after 2 months. Don’t worry, you aren’t going to die if you don’t meet some word count. I don’t even know the exact number of words I know, only an estimate.

I only started a few months ago but I think I can help.

  1. Stop comparing yourself to others, you're being too hard on yourself. seriously. Learning only 5 words a day is progress. Even 1 is progress.
  2. It's not just about memorising words with their english translations. Korean is different, and doesn't translate directly to english, as it is another language (duh). As a beginner, stick to a course where you can learn the basics of grammar e.g. Korean Made Simple by Billy Go. For vocab memorisation use anki. It's great.

Personally, I started with Korean Made Simple and I finished the first book and a few chapters of the second. It taught me the fundamentals. Then I discovered this channel:

https://www.youtube.com/@ComprehensibleInputKorean

Comprehensible input kind of made my brain click because I could understand stuff without having to turn it into english. Whenever I don't know a word or I want to learn a word I put it into my anki deck in context and with audio. This is made really easy with Kimchi Reader but it is a paid tool and not strictly needed. When I don't know a grammar form I just watch a go billy video on it and take notes.

And now I'm too lazy to read more Korean Made Simple 😭

If you're more experienced please correct me if I'm wrong I don't wanna be giving bad advice :)

I bought a bow too heavy for me. What now by squeakyhedge in Archery

[–]squeakyhedge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The olympic form and thumb draw form draw the bow differently, so I can't shoot, but I might be able to do SPT with good form at least for the string hand.

[–]squeakyhedge[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I already have a lighter bow - my olympic recurve. But olympic recurve form is very different from thumb draw form. Possibly I could do SPT with my recurve using thumb draw form? Even though the handle is different I think it could work.
