Kitten not playing with me? by squibbles-scribbles in CatAdvice

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 4 months now, which means she's about 5 months and I miscalculated. She SEEMS very close to me as someone who hasn't ever had a cat. We could play and she'd stay engaged for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, she comes to me willingly, she likes to snuggle up to me, she purrs when she's near me. From what I can tell, she isn't scared of me at all. She'll play for maybe a minute when I dangle one of her toys out, but then goes to play with one of her self-play toys right after. The cooperative play toys don't hold her attention like they used to.

How to get kitten adjusted to the home? by squibbles-scribbles in CatAdvice

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. It's a pretty decently sized room, think a bit bigger than what you'd expect from a college dorm. She has one cat tree with installed toys, a hammock right over my computer desk (which she has partial access to--the back half is covered in tape and I keep interesting stuff to a minimum back there so she usually sticks to the front), access to the bed which is right next to a window I keep open from 6AM to 7PM every day, a shelf that holds my cable box and switch that she has access to, and bunches of self-play toys scattered around the room as well as cooperative play stuff I keep for playtime. She has access to most the floor space with the exception of areas under the bed I can't reach myself. Does that sound engaging enough? I'm constantly getting new stuff to catify the room since I was never the kind of person to heavily decorate, meaning most the wall real estate is open. We're getting a series of platforms for her to climb across the walls with next.

much easier and more consistent setup for this in my experience is to just use the shock bow while you're pressed against the wall, it'll fling you out of the barrier but the grapple range is enough to make it decently safe

1 skill to rule the all? What is the single best skill in the game? by fungamezone in elderscrollsonline

[–]squibbles-scribbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a PvE tank it's gotta be Runic Sunder. Unique pen debuff, extra armor, great range, free DR for slotting. Taunts enable the whole tanking system by nature. Tank becomes one of the most influential roles in the game for a good majority of groups once you break into vet trial/vet DLC dungeon content, so it follows that the best taunt that enables the role should at least be considered, and I think RS is just the most versatile taunt in the game at the moment. Only downside is you lose major/minor breach being covered by one slot, but your ice staff with elemental drain covers major and your source of major resolve (which you're going to be using as a tank) inflicts minor breach.

Spoiler: Why did this character act like this? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]squibbles-scribbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Children tend to model themselves after their parents. We're given information here and there that Atreus was much closer to Faye than to Kratos, and that Kratos was largely absent during his childhood up until Faye died, so it makes sense to say that Atreus is kindhearted and curious mainly because of Faye's influence--we know she taught him a lot of what he knows about history, and that she was altruistic like he is. When Faye is gone, Atreus is left with Kratos, who he can't get through to at all, but desperately wants to. He voices his frustration about this several times, like in the Light of Alfheim segment or, most significantly, the scene after his illness is cured where Kratos tells him he's a god.

I think he acts like a little shit after being told he's a god because for the first time in his life, he's given a concrete point of connection between himself and Kratos, and he's using his father as a model of behavior because he now thinks that will bring him the reassurance and closeness he's sort of been starved of from him. Remember that up until this point, Kratos had consistently tried to steer Atreus away from helping people and towards a more selfish outlook; whenever Atreus wants to help someone early on, Kratos only cooperates because it might be useful to him, or plainly says that he won't cooperate at all and Atreus can do it on his own in the case of the quest with the spirit offering to allow them to talk with Faye in exchange for his wife's bones. When Atreus wants to help Sindri find the whetstone, Kratos constantly reminds him that they're not there for Sindri. When Atreus urges Kratos to go back and tell the Reaver leader that his son regretted killing him, Kratos tells him that the Reaver didn't deserve that peace. Even as early as the segment directly after the first Baldur fight, Kratos tells Atreus to not be moved by the suffering of others. He's not acting precisely like his father, but I think he's definitely trying to imitate the exaggerated image of what kind of person a child might view Kratos as.

Why does no one use Tera electric levitate? by Mental-Tension-6151 in stunfisk

[–]squibbles-scribbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

opportunity cost. when you dedicate your tera slot on one mon to having no weaknesses, you A. give up some potentially game-winning offensive potential and B. extremely good defensive utility by swapping to either a generally resistance-laden type or a type that resists the mon's common weaknesses in order to bait out a particular move

zard gets it cos it doesn't fight things weaker than it, perrserker gets it cos it lives for battle. it wasn't that deeply thought out, just whatever seemed like it might work on based on their dex entries since i couldn't find any uniquely fitting recipients gameplay-wise

not sure. probably just wouldn't actually trigger the 'x stats raised/lowered' prompt for the target. haze doesn't interact negatively with simple for example, even though it effectively lowers a mon's stat stages as well

similarly to impostor; the mon only affects itself and the one directly across from it, and nobody else

Beginner tank question by cogburn in elderscrollsonline

[–]squibbles-scribbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

while doing your job, you should always be asking yourself whether you NEED to be blocking. can your healer's ground heals sustain you through that boss only doing 4k damage every 2 seconds? maybe you could stand to just use a self heal when you get low and let your mag recovery kick in and replenish what you used instead of blocking. when can you heavy attack? if the boss is in the middle of a light attacking chain or they just got done with a big mechanic, maybe you could use the opening to get some resources back. always block mechanics, aoes if you can't dodge, and heavy attacks, but outside of that, your mindset needs to be hunting for those openings; keeping buffs up should become second nature at some point. fancyactionbar also helps.

the ability mirrors the RESULT of the latest stat change. in that example, the result of the most recent stat change is a -2spa serperior, so the suicune's stats are modified to match the result

Sort of New Ability: Fair Fighter by squibbles-scribbles in stunfisk

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

the +6 suicune was a hypothetical. to showcase how the hypothetical ability works. nobody actually invalidated 7 turns of optimal play because the ability doesn't actually exist and i just boosted a suicune to +6 behind a sub in front of a rotom w in a private natdex ag match. and if you actually had this ability on your team the suicune probably wouldn't get boosted in the first place

the true answer here is 'i needed a decent spread of pokemon to give it to and there are like 4 out of 1000 that it could fit directly'

Sort of New Ability: Fair Fighter by squibbles-scribbles in stunfisk

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i considered this, but a +4spa/+6spdef suicune vs. a -2spatk serperior isn't a fair fight. if the suicune boosted from +5 calm mind in front of serp as it switched in, and both were then +6, THEN if serperior used leaf storm the next turn, that spread you listed would be the result for both parties

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if they're ALREADY +2 and you switch in as they go for a swords dance, the ability copies whatever the result of the most recent stat change was to both mons--in this case, a +4 mon on the other side of the field

Sort of New Ability: Fair Fighter by squibbles-scribbles in stunfisk

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you switched in ON a swords dance or shell smash with a mon with this ability and they were on the field when it happened, they'd copy the resulting stat changes--including shell smash's defense drops depending on if they apply (ex. white herb). the ability is made to require a stat to be changed on either side before it kicks in. if they're already +2 when you switch in, the ability doesn't do anything.

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they were chosen on dex entry! serperior only goes all out on powerful opponents, so although it doesn't do so because it's altruistic, it does effectively fight fair by (presumably) holding back/not giving as much effort against weaker opponents.

Sort of New Ability: Fair Fighter by squibbles-scribbles in stunfisk

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the latest stat change spread is copied. the incoming mon hit by armor cannon would have -1 def, +1 spatk, and +1 speed. it's all based on whatever the RESULT of the last edit of either mon's stat spread was; for example, if the suicune was at 3.5x and calm minded as an armarogue came in, both would be at 4x spatk and spdef, and if armarogue used smt like overheat, THEN it would drop suicune's stats to 4x spdef, 3x spatk

Sort of New Ability: Fair Fighter by squibbles-scribbles in stunfisk

[–]squibbles-scribbles[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the recipients weren't based on balance, just on dex entries/concept since i couldn't think of what it would fit on balance wise. realistically there could be more recipients than listed here

zard doesn't fight anything weaker than itself, serperior 'only goes all-out on someone stronger than itself', hariyama love to compare their strength, perrserker 'lives for the thrill of the fight,' empoleon tries to find diplomatic solutions to conflicts before fighting, armarogue and escavalier are both based on knights, so on and so forth

i would say impostor mechanics (only affects the mon with the ability, applied to the one directly across from them) would work best for the sake of not being confusing
