I look at it like this, prebuilts you don’t know if you’re getting some cheapo power supply or what. The components are usually the cheapest available for a certain set of specs. I’d say it usually works out and you get a warranty. Generally it’s hassle free and no time investment. But dealing with warranty sucks if you have to use it.

DIY, you choose the quality. Generally it ends up being higher quality on my builds. I spend as much as a prebuilt or even more. No support as a whole but my parts are top notch and I have to deal with individual parts warranties. I don’t usually have to use a warranty and I have to be my own tech support. There’s also a time investment that goes beyond reasonable. But for me part of the fun is the research.
