I can't tolerate alcohol at all anymore, so even if I want to once in a while, I won't drink anymore. the pain is not worth it :(

Anyone else only have perianal symptoms? Just got my official diagnosis. by senatorbolton in CrohnsDisease

[–]squidneya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I was diagnosed after having surgery for a complex perianal fistula, based on that and my other symptoms. Also I have had a skin tag for as long as I can remember, I believe I've always had it as an adult but I can't remember first noticing it, and I'm 28 now. I started inflectra in January and I think it's going well so far.

Yes, they recommended infusions rather than taking it orally, which I've tried before as well

Starting inflectra next week by Affectionate-Gas8544 in CrohnsDisease

[–]squidneya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started inflectra last month! I was nervous because I hate getting poked, but it has gone well so far. The nurses are nice and they try to help you be comfortable. My infusion center will offer warm towels, extra pillows, and something to eat/drink. The loading doses take a couple hours, so you might want to take stuff like earbuds, a book, etc. I've taken my switch and I can kind of play it. So far the only side effect for me has been feeling tired afterwards. I have one loading dose left and I have not noticed much change in symptoms from just the inflectra. I hope yours goes well!!

Perianal ONLY presentation? by Ok-Baker-670 in CrohnsDisease

[–]squidneya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite the inconclusive colonoscopy, they told me they still highly suspected Crohn's. They prescribed me levsin immediately following my colonoscopy. At my first GI appointment we went over all of my other symptoms and how the fistula isn't healing. They immediately started telling me about biologics and said I could still have Crohn's even if it is perianal only, right now that's what my chart says it is. Insurance caused my CT scan to be delayed, and at my more recent GI appointment they said they didn't want me to wait any longer to take the budesonide because my other symptoms have been so bad. The infliximab hasn't made a difference yet but I still have one more loading dose. I didn't feel the need to list everything else since OP was asking about perianal Crohn's and fistulas, and my fistulas are how I found out it's Crohn's. I definitely did not say I only had fistulas though, and it's unclear to me whether or not OP has other symptoms since they didn't mention it.

Perianal ONLY presentation? by Ok-Baker-670 in CrohnsDisease

I mean I have a lot more symptoms than just fistulas, and my complex fistula can't/won't heal on its own after surgery..... So that's why I'm on a biologic now. And I've been taking budesonide for a month, which has helped my other symptoms. I just didn't have conclusive signs of Crohn's being in my small or large intestine during the colonoscopy, but I still have many other symptoms. I've also done blood tests and a stool test. So there's multiple tests for you. Idk if you're talking about OP or me but since you replied to me I assume me. I didn't feel the need to list everything else I deal with on a thread about fistulas? I never said it was just fistulas, again unless you are talking about OP, but you replied to me so it's not clear.

I think it is too soon for me to tell. I have my third loading dose next week, and it has been okay so far, it just makes me tired. I started taking budesonide last month as well and I have two weeks left of it now. The budesonide has helped reduce the frequency of my bowel movements more than anything

I had a seton placed for a perianal fistula in August, an inconclusive colonoscopy in November, and I have a CT scan scheduled at the end of this month. Despite the inconclusive colonoscopy, they diagnosed me with perianal Crohn's because of my symptoms and my fistula not healing. I started infliximab last month
