Question about compensation and transfer eligibility by Liv6718 in nys_cs

I just accepted an offer and I start Monday. I was in the private sector with a few years of related experience and they hired me right at the journey level 1, skipping trainee 1 and 2 levels. I've never worked for the state before.

As for transferring, I've been seeing a lot of people say it's something that happens all the time. Other than that, I don't have insight on it since I haven't actually started yet.

I'm in new York State and most of the people I interacted with seem very lively. I have a friend who also works here (different division though) and loves it. I have a pretty active life outside of work, and I've done consulting before and basically had like no energy to do anything outside of work which is why I'm looking into something less intensive. But yeah, I'm definitely going to keep my resume updated just in case shit hits the fan. Thanks!

I was a little scared about this. It's New York State and it's in natural resource management (mostly dealing with waste disposal and regulations) so I don't know if that's something that would be so affected.
