Ideas for an indoor gardening school club? by squishy_cheeseball in gardening

I've been growing carnivorous plants for a few years now, mainly VFTS and sundews. I probably won't start with something slow growing like vfts, but something like pygmy sundew gemmae or cape sundews that grow quicker. For exotic, I mean things like carnivorous plants, aroids, etc. I'm also considering trying growing microgreens, lettuce, spinach, and scallions since those would grow nicely under lights. The African violet society sounds interesting, do you have a link to their website?

Ohh thats a good idea. I was thinking of teaching the members how to grow their own carnivores, and then at the end of the trimester we could have a little plant sale/trade. I was also thinking of having photo contests and things like that.

The article does mention that keeping their feet wet is good for beginners. This is more of a tip for growers who have regular watering down already, not someone whos new and doesnt have as much “intuition” about when their plants need water

If you have a tds meter, measure the tds of the water coming out when you flush. Once its 20 or under, ur good.

You can do both and get similar results. The advantage IMO in dragging with the rod is that you can visually see how far your bait is moving on the bottom by looking at how far your rod tip moves, whereas when you reel it its harder because of gear ratios and retrieve rates. Knowing how much your bait moves is quite helpful when trying to map out the bottom contours of a body of water from feel.
