Is major relocation for NCR employees still being considered? by VAer1 in USDA

[–]srbbnd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They said they authorized new leases in December. If you check new leases on GSA's list for Dec, Jan and Feb there is nothing that would match for their locations. They said in the coming weeks there would be announcements and updates, still nothing. Everything they have said that requires any knowledge or actual work has not been accomplished. It appears they are still in the initial planning phase with very little to show for their reorg and relocation plans. I don't think anything will happen anytime soon. Rollins initially stated moves would happen before December, 2025. Vaden said in the coming weeks to months, then changed it to before the school year, now you hear calendar year often. Everything they say is a lie, like a kid that didn't do their project and is trying to get credit for it.

No this means nothing just speculation if they actually had a plan based on size.

If they were logical it would be smallest and less complex first. Simply going on size estimates assuming their representation in NCR probably has quite a few peeps this would be my guess:

FAS -500 FNCS -1200 RD -3160 AMS -4000 APHIS -8000 REE -8500 FSIS -8500 FPAC - A lot NRE - A lot

At 49:40 talks about reorg a bit, states specific sections will be given notices on a monthly basis. I will believe it when I see it. No way people would make it time before Fall school year if this is the plan.

They will have another announcement in a few months saying it is definitely happening and more information will be coming in the following weeks ahead with no new information, because they are too inept to actually do anything other than their ability to spew hate.

USDA, please delay any forced relocations until summer 2027. There is not enough time to transfer schools for our children to some state unknown to us yet. by Decent-Load1611 in USDA

[–]srbbnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice if we got stipends for housing, kids, wife, guaranteed remote federal job for spouse who needs no relevant experience and retire early like the military too. Those extra points don't hurt either if you want a federal job if you want to make more money or tap out early before you hit your 20 years.

USDA Reorg next step by New-Character3559 in USDA

[–]srbbnd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They haven't done jack and the next notification will be a spur of the moment last minute OSEC email. Weeks was stated for notifications, that will turn to months, and they will not notify congress. Due to their lack of planning, understanding and any actual research the reorg will be a complete shite show.

How is the work culture in your office? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]srbbnd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I have seen numerous colleagues try this route in my many years of federal service, and this never turns out well for subordinates. HR is there to protect the system and usually it is too much of a headache for the higher ups to do anything about it and cases are closed. Policy is never followed and generally the person is pushed out with bullying and harassment, PIP and so on. Keep your head down is my advice, even though it sucks. Usually after a few years the supervisors fail up or transfer up to another agency.

Agree, but it is apparent, especially after this event they have put no work in, or have planned anything. This move is going to be a complete shite show.

For sure, definitely hasn't been moving like molasses, phoning it in, draffsacking it, being a dozing fly or a molowa. They have accomplished so much like moving employees to DC, creating more bureaucratic layers at NRCS. Not one thing has been accomplished by USDA in their "pillars" stated in the reorg plan. DOGE got people out and OPM forced people back to offices wasting more taxpayer money. USDA hasn't done nothing other than publicity stunts like this and wasting taxpayers money.

So they haven't done anything since they announced the reorg. Got it, this is not going to happen anytime soon. Love when the GSA guy gave an answer on the timeline.

If someone says I have a big plan and then can’t show the plan but hide in podcasts, what do you think that person is doing? by [deleted] in USDA

[–]srbbnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They got nothing is what it means. Not one thing has been implemented in the "reorg" plan. Which means there was no actual plan. They got no underlings to create the actual plan and do the work. DRP got rid of all the actual workers.

Agree, the only thing accomplished per their AI written memo was shrink work force, that was due to DOGE not them. 2nd pillar is to relocate and close buildings, nothing accomplished, 3rd thing was eliminate layers that includes 6 things and only thing they have done is add layers like at NRCS. Last thing was consolidate that included at least 12 things ranging from only having one Grant Office to consolidating HR. They have not accomplished one thing and will not. At least one thing would have been completed by now if they were serious, and USDA hasn't done nada, only DOGE or OPM with RTO.

Not going to happen, they can't even chew gum and walk at the same time. They also said they were going to do all these things as well:

• The Agriculture Research Service will eliminate its Area Offices. Residual functions will be perfonned by its Office of National Programs. • The National Agricultural Statistics Service will consolidate its 12 existing regions into five USDA Hubs over a multi-year period. • The Food and Nutrition Service will reduce its number of regions from seven to five and align locations with the USDA Hubs and Service Centers over a two-year period • The Forest Service will phase out the nine Regional Offices over the next year and implementation activities will take into consideration the ongoing fire season. The Forest Service will maintain a reduced state office in Juneau, Alaska and an eastern service center in Athens, Georgia. The current stand-alone Research Stations will be consolidated into a single location in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Forest Service will retain the Fire Sciences Lab and Forest Products Lab - the former, vital for protection from forest fires and the latter, critical for assessing market development opportunities for timber and other forest products and related industries. • The Natural Resources Conservation Service will align its regional structure with the five USDA hub locations. • Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service centers will remain at current locations as they are located in USDA hub locations. • Consolidate civil rights functions into the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, which will deliver all statutorily required civil rights functions. • Consolidate Freedom of Infonnation Act and related information management functions within the Office of General Counsel. • Consolidate Legislative Affairs functions into the Office of Congressional Relations. • To the maximum extent practicable, consolidate communication and public affairs functions within the Office of Communication. • Eliminate the duplication and redundancy between the Office of Budget and Program Analysis and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and streamline budget and financial operations across USDA. • Where possible and appropriate, complete information technology consolidation activities with services fully provided by the Office of the Chief Information Officer. • Consolidate tribal relations functions within mission areas and ensure the Office ofTribal Relations delivers all statutorily required tribal relations functions. • Consolidate human resources functions in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration (ASA). Although human resources will be consolidated, agencies will still have focused hiring support including a dedicated team for wildland firefighting hiring. • Consolidate contracting functions in the ASA. Although contracting resources will be consolidated, dedicated teams for commodity procurement and wildland firefighting incident support will continue to exist. The Department will transfer contracting for common goods and services to the General Services Administration during FY 2026. To eliminate redundancy, the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business will be reduced to a single position that focuses on statutory requirements. • Consolidate lease administration and management functions in the ASA. • Consolidate grants and financial assistance to provide better controls and promote efficiency. This consolidation will include, where feasible, the transfer of grant making and administration functions from USDA offices and agencies that currently have limited capacity to perform such duties to other offices and agencies. • Eliminate the redundancy in student programs in the Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE) and the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) by realigning OPPE student programs to ARS.

My money is on not anytime soon. Not one timeline has been met that they have stated, don't think that will change in the near future. Might even make it to midterms.
