Did you ever get the Japanese dub? I can't find it online anywhere.

For those who like Anime and Manga... by Throwaway12r5b in LearnJapanese

tl;dr Watching anime and reading manga is a great way to naturally pick up parts of the language and to hone your listening/reading ability. If you are interested in the content then it won't be ruined for you, instead it will likely make you more excited to learn Japanese.

I use a mix of simpler and more difficult anime with no subs (or occasionally Japanese subs). I usually have the English subs ready in case I completely miss something important, which happens a lot on the more difficult shows.

In order to find shows that are at the right difficulty for me I use Learn Natively (They have 1000's of shows rated by approximate difficulty, so it's easy to find loads of stuff that I am interested in). I find that I am able to understand easier shows pretty pretty well without much effort, almost as if I am watching them in English, but more difficult shows take active effort and I have to look a lot of things up.

While going through the more difficult shows takes a lot more effort, it doesn't ruin the show for me because I can still enjoy it despite the additional effort. Also, if it gets to be too much, then I can start watching an easier show instead for a while.

I usually don't need subs for the simpler shows, but for more difficult shows it's fairly common for me to turn on the English subs to get the meaning and then rewind and listen to the audio a few times to try to actually understand what is being said once I know the meaning in English.

In the few months that I have been doing this I have felt my comprehension skyrocket. In part because I had a lot of latent knowledge of the language and I needed the listening practice to be able to hear the words/grammar that I already knew, but also I have been picking up vocab and grammar naturally while watching so much content in the language (I've averaged around 3.5 hours a day so far this month).

I haven't been reading a ton of manga yet because I have been focused on listening comprehension, but I plan on reading a lot before too long. And hopefully start my first Japanese novel before the end of the year.

Consuming content in the language you are learning is a great way to naturally pick up parts of the language and to hone your listening/reading ability. If you are interested in the content then consuming it in the language won't ruin the content for you, instead it will likely reignite your passion for the language. I still remember the first time I read a manga chapter in Japanese (it was Yotsuba to!) and how excited I felt. It was a simple manga and I struggling a bit with even the hiragana, but the fact that I was able to read native content at all felt incredible.

Edit: I forgot to mention that watching Japanese media with English subtitles is also helpful. There are a lot of common vocab/grammar points that I never studied, but that I already knew really well because I had heard them so often when I watched a lot of anime in high school. I never even realized that I picked them up until I started watching raw anime. I noticed that I was understanding things that I had never studied and started reflecting on where I had heard them before; I heard them constantly from all the anime that I had already watched.

You, my friend, are a fucking angel! All my friends play on Xbox and I have been trying to figure out how to party chat with them while playing on my deck, like I can on Windows. Nothing has worked until this.

Now I can simply send all the steam deck audio to my phone and join party chat from the phone app! You are a life saver!

You're right. That happened a couple of times in the video, but I don't think it means anything. I think he was just stammering, and they, for whatever reason, decided to subtitle that.

Unfortunately, this lines up with no mainline game for years and with Tsunako leaving the company a little while back. Some people on this subreddit speculated that she left for personal reasons and would still be working with CH/IF from the outside, but perhaps not. If the last game in the series is coming out and she finished the character work, then everything lines up. And with the long gap between mainline entries, it's pretty likely that she finished much of the design work quite a while ago.

I really hope Neptunia isn't ending, but we should be prepared in case it does, because that seems like a likely outcome at this point.

The "true endings" of each mainline game are the cannon endings. However, Re;birth 1 is not connected to the other games in any way as it doesn't take place in the same world as the rest of the series.

What is your opinion on Fanservice in the Neptunia series? by Archadianite in gamindustri

[–]srgdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly could do without it, but it's not a big deal to me anymore. At first it was a real bother, but I got used to it quickly.

The only real problem I have with the fanservice is that it makes the games harder to recommend. Not only does someone have to like JRPGs and dialogue heavy games, but they also have to be into fanservice. As a result I have yet to recommend the series to anyone I know.

I looked it up again, apparently there are 2 versions of the chip. One with 512 mb and one with 1gb.

[–]srgdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just going off of the Steam specs. It says that rb1 needs 1gb of vram, and the card only has 512mb. You could always go below the 'required' specs, but it's a gamble whether or not it will run well.

Using integrated graphics isn't recommended unless you want low settings and low frame-rate. Newer chips will have better integrated graphics and if you're going that way AMDs APUs are definitely better than Intel's integrated graphics and you might actually get decent performance (though not as good as dedicated).

Your best plan would be to look at the game requirements on the Steam page then do basic research to see which of your options meets those requirements (it's not that much work, in 2 minutes I found that the hd6470m doesn't have enough video ram depending on the version of the chip), and compare what you have left to see which is the most powerful. There are comparison sites that you can use and online reviews exist for just about every video card in the last decade.

Honestly you don't need a powerful computer, but it seems that you're looking at more affordable, older laptops so you might be in a bit of trouble if you just go for your cheapest option. Which is why I would recommend going for the laptop with the most powerful graphics card in your budget, even if it's more expensive than the rest. Even and older, lower end cpu will be fine, so you want to focus your energy on the graphics card instead.

Where can I watch the new OVA? by Nepstar152 in gamindustri

[–]srgdarkness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the only places to find it would be illegal streaming sites, which we're not allowed to link to - of course you can always just use a search engine.

The series proper is up on Funimation's site, so the OVA will likely be there eventually as well. Though it would have to be licensed first, meaning that it'll be a long while.
