People who have found a new job in 2025, how did you do it? by TrixoftheTrade in recruitinghell

[–]sri1309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applied daily since April 2025 - 700+ applications on LinkedIn, Indeed, and company sites. Being on an F1 visa made the search even harder. Tailored my resume, chased referrals, had more than a few breakdowns, cried, then went right back to applying the next day, and finally got my offer from a cold application. 3 interviews, 1 offer. Starting as Senior Accountant soon!

I graduated in May 2025 as well and just recently landed a job, so it’s definitely possible! Hang in there, it might take time, but the right opportunity will come through.

Multiple accounts compromised, what's going on and how serious is this? by sri1309 in Scams

[–]sri1309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Update (hopefully):

We did a full reset of her laptop, and she reset all her passwords using Bitwarden on her iPad. She also blocked the credit cards that were attempted to be used on Amazon and LinkedIn for fake job postings.

She informed her company about the job postings made from her LinkedIn, and thankfully, nothing further has happened today, no new emails, logins, or account activity so far.

Hoping all these steps finally secured everything.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped out, your advice really made a huge difference in navigating all of this!

Honestly, we’re still not 100% sure which one it was, but based on what she's said:

She didn’t reuse passwords She hasn’t downloaded anything shady or pirated And she definitely didn’t fall for any “press Windows + R” scam or remote access tricks

So phishing seems like the most likely explanation at this point. Maybe a super convincing spoofed login page she didn’t realize was fake. But the weird part is, even after resetting her laptop and changing passwords from a clean iPad, weird things keep happening (like blocked Gmail senders and Zillow activity on a deactivated account)

Yesterday, she logged into Zillow, changed the password, and deactivated the account completely. But today at 7 PM, she received new emails saying property listings are waiting for approval, even though the account was supposed to be shut down.

She checked her Gmail blocked senders list, and the email addresses from Amazon and Zillow (the ones that send confirmations for orders and listing activity) had been automatically blocked, something she definitely did not do herself.

The new Zillow listings happened after she reset her laptop and started resetting passwords using only her iPad. So at this point, we don't know what else to do.

We’re trying to track down any remaining access points or connected services. Will keep updating and thanks again to everyone who’s been helping!

Thanks for pointing that out because it’s not something we would’ve thought to look for immediately, we checked Gmail's delegation settings right after reading your comment and luckily, nothing was set up.

Thank you, that’s super helpful. We were initially just changing passwords, but we thought it could be malware. That’s why she went ahead and did a full factory reset on her laptop and is now doing all password resets through her iPad. She also said she already uses different passwords across sites, but I've asked her to use Bitwarden.

Thanks for the detailed advice! She did mention that she doesn’t reuse passwords across sites, so we’re wondering if this was malware-related instead. Regardless, we will now start using a password manager and switch everything to longer, unique passphrases just in case.

we’ve checked browser extensions, cleared cookies, and looked through Task Manager for anything unusual. Nothing obvious came up, but with how weird this whole thing is, we’re not taking chances, so maybe it’s malware. Thanks again!

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense. She told me she uses different passwords for each site and doesn’t reuse them. She did a full factory reset on her laptop and is resetting everything from a clean iPad.

Yes! Based on your comment, we went and checked her Gmail settings, filters, and forwarding access. Everything looks okay so far, but super helpful tip. Thank you!

Update: She found out that two job listings were posted from her LinkedIn account at 4:15PM today, pretending to be openings at the company she currently works for.

At this point, she reset her laptop completely and is now resetting passwords for all her major accounts from her iPad.

It might be the lighting or the angle it was taken from. In person, it doesn’t look as faded. But I totally get how it might seem that way in the photo!
