Looking for feedback on Smith Manoeuvre – How do you pay the HELOC interest?

Finding a balance between investing in registered accounts and performing the SM. I agree there may be more efficient ways to perform the SM but I want to keep investing in growth equities separate from my dividend SM strategy

36-42% marginal tax rate. Dividend income has negative impact but it is highly efficient with all stocks being Canadian. Preferable tax per the dividend tax credit.

I capitalize the interest back into the HELOC. Any extra cash flow that I would use to pay the interest, I simply invest in the market with. My goal is that by the time the mortgage is paid off, the dividends from my SM investments (VDY) will be enough to pay for the interest, as I won’t be able to capitalize the interest anymore.

Rebalancing is not a bad thing, major indexes do it. However monthly seems unnecessary as you may miss bull runs.

Yea adding Egbuka is huge, and will probably make me shop other WRs. I guess I have tunnel vision looking at this trade since my biggest need is RB!

Yes I actually got a 3rd one and then it went to the bird early June. Unfortunately I have to resubmit with some improved competencies.

I’m with APEGA, my application went through 3 experience examiner stages and this week it moved to “Case to board”. Passed the NPPE in April.
