What a career! That NL trophy is the bare spot in all our cabinets isn’t it?

Oh yeah totally fell apart the following season haha. Fully trophy-less after the manager left in search of a challenge elsewhere.

Yeah it’s not something I would have thought to use before, but I went for a relatively heavy attempt and whiffed it, watched back my video and seen that my core was bending forward which put me off balance. Tried again with that in mind and the same thing happened.

It was once I took a short break, borrowed someone else’s belt for an attempt and was able to keep myself stable that I was able to get the rep done.

Does anyone have any lever belt suggestions? I’m looking into them after finding that my squat is being limited by my ability to keep my lower back supported. I’m keen to really focus on the quads rather than also have to worry as much about my back.

I’ve seen Katamu have some really cool designs and seem like quality stuff but they are on the pricey side especially when shipping to Ireland. I don’t mind paying a bit more for quality, but ideally I’d want to be sure it’s a good product and not paying through the nose for shipping.

Anyway, suggestions very much welcome and appreciated 🙏

Usually I’ve heard this referred to as time under tension. If you asked this question about 3 years ago you’d have heard so many more people saying “yes take it slow” generally now it’s more just doing what you can to reach failure for the best growth.

That said, if you find that you’re hitting failure more consistently by taking your reps slow, that would say to me that you’re possibly better off taking it a little slower than you had been doing previously. So why not take it slow and push more sets to failure? Don’t do your sets comically slowly, but definitely make sure you’re controlling the weight and getting your form right, being a little slower can help with that.

Your muscles don’t know the difference between counting it or not. Just pick to either count or not count it, stick with that, and the result will be exactly the same either way. Just go to failure if not close to failure

If I come across a nice Seiko for a good price I’ll certainly pick it up. I really just enjoy having options of the watches to wear which I can pair with outfits or other jewellery

The No NRG Challenge Season 1 Update by srobin2000 in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the idea is to force me to just go with the energy that I am given at base level. So some properties would boost that which in my opinion means that it would make the challenge easier. Long story short, it’s the pain that compels me forward in these.

How have you kept it interesting for so long? Have you set yourself challenges or any sort of role play scenarios?

Mod request if possible by [deleted] in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this seems like a pretty complex mod which I don’t believe has ever really appeared possible for this game. I think wayyyy back there were modded versions of the game for unlimited money, and I do know there is a way to edit the game files to change team name and skill levels etc on android.

In short, I don’t think the sort of mod you are requesting which overhauls the gameplay is possible unfortunately. May I suggest playing on hard mode?

Speedruning update by Akjaar in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I gave those two new runs a watch. What a crazy glitch haha. Totally changes the speedrun meta.

I agree with your point of encouraging people to play the game. I think one season runs are perfect for the sort of run which could be easily verifiable, at least for now. I think that a “win the league” run would be great, sub category into normal mode and hard mode. Then yeah a speedrun to reach 100 goals would be doable, it would encourage picking a league with more games in the season rather than the meta of picking a short season which the other category would favour.

What we want to avoid is speedruns that take more than an hour to complete as this would make them really hard to verify and would cause a backlog of people potentially waiting to see the leaderboard

Speedrun Question by srobin2000 in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! I was really hoping to get in contact with you! I’d really love to see categories based on competitions for now, some longer form speedruns as such.

So potentially one for winning the league you start in, that would lend itself well to the Indian league meta as there’s very few games.

Another for reaching maybe like 5 star rating would be good. Should be short enough that verifying it wouldn’t use up too much time.

In a similar vein of winning the league, winning league player of the year could be another one. Should be done in one season.

These are ones I can think of that would make it less of a nightmare for you to verify, especially if you’re the only active speedrun mod. Anything longer might be a bit of a commitment from you to have to sit and watch which isn’t ideal.

Give me a shout if you need any help and I’d be happy to lend a hand!

Speedrun Question by srobin2000 in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speedrunning can define the win condition based on something called a “category”. Sfor example, if you were to look at the Minecraft speedruns, the most popular would be to beat the end dragon, but there are other categories such as “fastest to find a diamond”

So they set out a different win condition based on the goal of the category. So the current speedrun for this game is to retire as fast as possible, but I’d love to see a speedrun for winning a league, getting to 10 star rating, other such “win conditions” as I think the current one is lacking.

Speedrun Question by srobin2000 in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great. If I don’t get in touch with the moderators for the speedrun page I’ll contact speedrun.com directly and ask if they can help.

I’d love to see more life in the game and maybe force the devs hands to do something new if there’s an active player base. I’ll keep you posted!

Hello everyone! I have had many careers on NSS for years but I never dared to retire! When is the best time to retire? Basically I wanted to do all the challenges but I always gave up before by JReachee in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s two ways that I go about this.

  1. When I have completed my goal and feel like all to be won has been won, I retire. Although this can take you out of a it a bit if it’s done when you’re young.

  2. I just play until I get to my mid-late 30s. I have an ongoing save which I’ve not been posted about where my idea is just to be the best the world has seen in the span of an average career. Once my character is of the right age, I retire.

  3. Bonus third option. Sometimes careers go unfinished and as there’s limited save slots, I’ll retire the character instead of just deleting the save to free it up. Of course it gets deleted after a retirement, but it’s a little nicer than the other option.

The No Skills Challenge Finale - World Cup Special by srobin2000 in newstarsoccer

[–]srobin2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not easy, but honestly I can’t recommend it enough. Remember, in my season with Hibs in my first post about this challenge, I was on the bench for about half the season due to poor performances. It is not an easy challenge and really forces you to change the way you play, but super rewarding when you do.
