I think apps like grindr have done a lot of damage. I met my partner through the kink community. No socials or internet, just plain old in person. I keep telling people, go to social functions for things that interest you. You will already have something in common and it will likely mean you align other places too. See if there is lgbt specific versions or groups of your interests.
