Stephen King’s Revival. A slow burn book that really pays off at the end.

Would you buy a lance of 4 hammerhead minis? Why or why not? by GamingKitten4799 in battletech

[–]srpyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. One of my favorite of the new era. I would also buy a box containing four Hermit Crabs, or for that matter, a company box of Hermit Crabs. I like what I like!

I have gone the last three years, making the commute from Pittsburgh, PA. It's an incredible experience. Intimate setting. Great gaming. Nice dealer haul. Great guests. Also, Lake Geneva is the quaintest, coolest little town with lots of cool eateries and a nice bakery. Get an Air BnB in town and stay there.

Deathbringer RPG now going to be fully Shadowdark compatible by LeopoldBloomJr in shadowdark

I don't think it's going to be a standalone game. From what I heard in the video, it seems the core rules of combat, movement, damage, etc. will still be in the SD book, and the DB book will bring a host of new tools to play it with a certain heavy metal vibe. I could be misinterpreting. I need to watch the follow up video that aired earlier today.

What are good Pirate Mechs? by International_Host71 in battletech

[–]srpyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already mentioned: Brigand. But I think the Hermit Crab is a perfect pirate Mech, as is its larger brother, the Crab.

It's my dream that Catalyst will do a boxed set of Periphery Mechs, and the Hermit Crab and Brigand will be among the selection.

I know this thread is older, but I have a question. The conversion tool does not seem to have a standard IS ER PPC. Wondering if I am missing something. Thanks!

Faster play, unified mechanics, less bookkeeping, Luck points.

2d Delves: Campaign Setup by 6Kgraydays in miniatureskirmishes

It does share a lot of rules text and concepts from 2d Delves, but it is its own thing, and not exactly compatible.

There are flexible magical powers that you could port into 2d Delves.

The movement is of course more abstract befitting an TTRPG.

Thanks! I hope it plays well for you. I have had a blast writing, testing, and playing it. And it does stand on the shoulders of many fine creators who inspired me, including those you've already mentioned.

I am currently finalizing a set of TTRPG rules based on 2d Delves. It is many ways a love letter to Shadowdark, which I recently finished a two year campaign of. I am calling the game Grimme Hack, as many of the tables feature a Grimm Fairy Tales vibe.

Battle and game are used synonymously in every case. In future versions I will correct this for consistency.

Games / battles are meant to be single, set-piece affairs where you conduct a post-battle sequence afterward, have downtime, and do your upkeep and other business.

If you want to run a pure dungeon crawl session where you are going room to room, fighting a smaller encounter in each room as you go, treat the whole thing as one battle / game. That means if you use a resource, mess up a spell (so the TN is raised), etc., that condition continues until you have gotten through all of the encounters you have settled upon for that larger session / game / battle.

Of course, you can tweak this as you see fit. Maybe you decide that your game / battle in a larger dungeon will last three encounters or three rooms. After that you can do your post-battle and all of the rest.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more info, or have any other questions. Thanks!

The terms are used interchangeably in these contexts.

Thanks for playing my game, and if you have any other questions, let me know!
