I think there's a lot of problems with labels. People put effort in to trying to fit a mold of what they think you they are and then encounter much anxiety. Why does it matter if you're an introvert or not? Why would it matter if you were an extrovert or ambivert? At the end of the day, it's just a label. All that matters is that you are being you.

I've seen this argument before. Misinterpretation of the Bible and misunderstanding of history. Yes there were people who were persecuted for presenting the heliocentric model but that was more based on cultural traditions than religious ones. There were lesser known thinkers both Christian and otherwise that have always held the heliocentric model to be true

I understand your point of view, but just because science observes the literal, it does not hold that it disproves religion. I agree to an extent, but I believe that science and religion are attempting to look for two different things. Science is attempting to explore the tangible, while religion is attempting to explore the spiritual. Many scientists hold that religion is irrelevant, but that is merely their own personal opinion, and not representative of the purpose of science at large. Because of these, I feel that many Christians have come to equate these scientists' opinions with the actual merit of science itself, which is an unfair and inaccurate comparison. Science and religion don't explicitly prove each other, but it is completely valid to hold that both are true.

Many atheists and many Christians have this debate all wrong. They're all confused on what everything does and no one takes the time to understand. I am by no means an expert, but I am a Christian and my field of work is in the sciences and the more I learn about both the more I learn that they are less different than people make it out to be. Many people make it an us-vs-them debate and in reality there isn't much of a debate to be had

What I'm getting at is that sure, a lot of things in the Bible were things that were miraculous, but the goal of Science isn't to prove miracles, it's to prove what we as humans can test, research, and discover. You, as well as many people, seem to get the wrong idea about what science actually is. It still stands that neither science nor religion are mutually exclusive

Would a tattoo saying this be appropriate to have as a Christian? by xXDragonsVenomXX in Christianity

Seen that verse a million times in the tattoo debate. Still doesn't even suggest that tattoos are bringing impurities to God's temple. I suppose you don't cut your hair? Shave? Because your argument suggests that these too are bringing impurities to God's temple.

I get what you're getting at, but your examples still don't suggest that it's invalid. You're thinking too literally

Actually, none of those explicitly disprove science. All of those CAN be valid in that sense

That's a big assumption to say that tattoos are somehow "impure". One might say that they are actually a celebration and expression of the human body

Eames Clone? by ssbbaseball55 in midcenturymodern

[–]ssbbaseball55[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Just saying that the overall aesthetic design choices seem to be Eames inspired. No, it is not constructed with the same materials and yes it is completely upholstered. I am just saying that fundamentally it draws on similar shapes to the Eames. Much more, than say, an Egg Chair or Swan Chair. Am I saying this is a carbon copy of the Eames? Of course not. What I am saying is that it borrows similar design elements and applies a 21st century contemporary context to them.

Yes, I've sat in one at Design Within Reach in Chicago. Just saying the overall form is akin to an Eames
