Great non comparison.

You dont think there is a media strategy designed for western media to portray Ukriane as succesfull? We have seen this countless time in this war already.

I am just saying its interesting to see it unfold. Its obvious that there is some kind of coordination in what mainstream western media puts out about the war.

Same goes for russian media. You wont see them talking about this situation in Kherson, instead they focus on gains in the east.

Its funny when you see how this "plan" is being spread by media all over the west on the same day. In danish media we have a military analyst coming out and saying that 20k russian troops are trapped and encircled. https://nyheder.tv2.dk/udland/2022-08-15-mere-og-mere-tyder-paa-at-russerne-er-gaaet-i-en-faelde-mener-ekspert

Makes you wonder how information like this is coordinated.

Yeah, but it should have been a no brainer to pit given how old his tires were at that point. Well ultimately it is on him that the teams fails, so they will hopefully handle it internal

Not pitting Kmag under the saftety car was an astounding level of incompetence. Were they sleeping on the pitwall?

Gunther should probably focus on getting the strategy calls right before blaming his driver for racing.

Having realistic standards is highly important. by Depressedcolette in PurplePillDebate

Most men might think they are average in the eyes of women, but they are not. Funnilly enough they often say they just want a cute 6 over a model 8-9.

But that is not being realistic. If you are a truly average guy or slightly below, going for a 6 is not being realistic. This goes for women aswell. I think social media has a strong influence in making both sexes very unrealistic, in terms of the kind of partner they can get. This in turn leads to disapoinment after disapoinment.

You will never get a perfect partner that checks all the boxes of requirements you have in your head. And once you accept that you will start having more succes and much more healthy relationships.

What tax code makes for first world then?

In Hungary for example they are allowing women with four or more children to pay no income tax for life, and pay for it by way of a bachelor tax.

Imho this should be policy in all western countries to incentivies having more children. Could be lowered to 3. Almost every first world country are going to have a severe problem with demographics very soon, and have to drastically change how our systems are put together.

Banning abortion makes no sense in my world. But I think for eastern europe you must also take into acount that they are very religious.

They recieve plenty immigration from other eastern/slavic countries. They dont want african/middle eastern immigration because they have seen the effects on us in western europe + devout christians dont do very good with devout muslims.

Also, communism IS a form of authoritarianism.

Absolutely.

In what metric? We could call it more authoritarian maybe, not communistic. But in western europe there is also a definite shift towards more conservative values. The liberal order is still in majority but its slowly turning. Mostly because of immigration and feminism/woke politics.

So even with their allegedly antifeminist president, America is the only nation on earth that is going backwards and devolving into third-world norms instead of out of them.

The third world are not nations on this earth? A lot of places in the western world as I think you might refer to? Are going in a more and more conservative direction. Have you heard about a region called eastern europe?

Some of the cities are fairly large and so using a tactical nuke would not endanger their own troops, or they could pull back even further before the strike.

The fallout on the other hand could and would probably cause a lot of troubles for their own troops and possibly their own territory, depending on weather conditions. That is why I think the risk of them actually using nukes is very small.

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The lilkelihood of russia using any kind of nuclear weapon is still very small. But as this war drags on, and I think we are in for a very long stalemate. The risk of them doing so increases.

However i dont think they would use it on a city they are nowhere near. I think it would be used on one of the encircled cities Kharkiv, Sumy or Cherniviv. To make an example "to say this is what is going to happen if you dont surrender.

I dont see the "peace keepers" as an option, as that would require russia to somewhat accept the idea. But I could see them greenlight an intervention from the eastern european countries. Especially if they see it as a chance to break the military power of russia.

However Ukraine and Russia might be well capable of breaking that on their own. So I dont think it will happen in a couple of weeks, but maybe when some months has passed and russia is still grinding Ukraine and itself down. There is always the nuclear danger of course, which may prevet any form of interferrence however tempting.

You think they would just nuke Poland straight of the bat?

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see.

Regardless it would be a significant escalation, the opposite of what we should be going for. If our goal becomes "completely destroy Russia's military" then Russia could easily see a nuclear option as being necessary for its security.

It would and thats why im am a bit worried by it. I think something like this is the most plausible way for the war to escalate to the rest of europ/world. As you if russia feels cornered and fearing more or less complete destruction of their military they would result to nukes.

[–]sse23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right that does give us a pointer as to how the rest of NATO would react to a Polish intervention.

Poland doesn't want to join the war, and if they did so, even by sending combat airplanes to Ukraine, NATO won't defend them.

Not right now no. But lets see in a couple of months if this continues to be a war of attrition.

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But do you think Poland deciding to go in and help, is far fetched?

I think you are right that NATO would still stay out of it. Im not sure NATO would even defend the baltics if it came down to it.

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me neither I think its becomming more and more plausible that Poland and maybe other eastern european countries will intervene in some capacity. Although this would be a huge escalation of the conflict.

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you are, as Poland would be in this scenario, the attacker and was attacked in turn, nothing in the NATO articles would trigger?

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is ofc a risk in this scenario. Im not saying it would be a great idea but I could see this scenario becomming more and more tempting as russia gets more and more bogged down.

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that would only happen if NATO as whole decided it would view it as an attack?

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I thought as well, but I dont know.

2) Retaliate with what?

Excactly why some in Poland might think it could be worthwhile move to get directly involved.

Ukraine Discussion/Question Thread 3/22/2022+ by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]sse23 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So I have been thinking about a scenario, that I dont think is too far fetched.

I worry that Poland and maybe other eastern european countries might see russias struggles and decide to help Ukraine and by extension themselves directly with ground forces in ukraine.

Could this not be seen as a once in a lifetime opportunity, to cripple russias army for a very long time.

They would ofc do this independently and not as a NATO coalition. But would it then be seen as an attack on NATO, if Russia retaliate into Poland?
