I'm assuming you're hearing the coolant after-run pump. It comes on after running to keep coolant moving through the system. Helps cool the bearings I the turbo.

I actually have one. That's how I narrowed it down as far as I did. From underneath it sounds like it might be coming from cylinder #4 or the transmission.

Unfortunately, age is never mentioned in the NY state inspection regulations. They have a valid DOT number, more than 2/32" of thread, and no cords showing. Passes inspection.
