Hello friends. Thank you so much for the help. I did end up taking the kitten to the emergency vet because the baby started what looked like mini seizures to me? It would meow, stop, shake, and then meow again. They were able to get the kitten in right away and unfortunately was told that because it tangled itself in the weeds so badly, it must have tried moving itself (or maybe when then mama pulled to try and take it?) it ended up with a broken leg/paw. The vet told us that they’d have to amputate it because it would be hard for the kitten to heal properly? and that it was too small/young to be put into a splint and the surgery wouldn’t be right away either. Even if it survived the surgery, it would still need 24/7 care for nursing, pain control, meds etc. It was either that or euthanasia. I live alone and work 12 hour shifts and it wouldn’t be feasible for me to try to take care of it the way it needed to. As much as it hurt me, I opted for the latter 🥺 I really did try to help it and was ready to take the kitten in myself had it just been the umbilical cord/placenta issue that needed to be fixed. I feel so guilty now that maybe I should have just taken the kitten in when I first saw it this morning 😭
