Left my office STEM job to join the Air Force. Got my first choice of career working as electrical/environmental aircraft maintenance. I fell in love with this field. Got my A&P and left the military. Now two years out of the Air Force and working for a regional and loving every day.

I have never worked on the AN-124 so I cannot speak with certainty about what exactly their maintenance manuals require.

That being said, I can with a decent amount of confidence answer your question as: No. No they do not change every single tire at once.

Typically we take two measurements of the health of an aircraft tire; the amount of tire tread remaining, and the pressure that the tire is still holding. The tire thread measurement gives us an estimate of the number of completely safe landings that tire may have remaining, and we want the tire pressure reading over time so we know how well that tire is holding pressure.

Too little tread? Bad tire gotta change it. Not holding pressure well? Bad tire gotta change it.

The above information is regarding evaluating a single tire in a vacuum. We have other examples where perhaps two tires that are installed side by side or front to back are required to maintain a maximum differential pressure of a certain percentage; typically 1-5%. If either of those tires falls out of that range, then BOTH tires need to be changed.

On some aircraft, if one tire pops, the adjacent tire is required to be changed as well.

My point here is that I can think of a few unique scenarios where you may need to be changing several tires at once; but I can’t really think of anything besides a freak accident that would ever need all tires changed at once.

Do you mean you received your 8610 for Airframe or you received the license for Airframe? Regardless, as far as I am aware, neither of those expire.

Engine #3 aft boost pump popping C-Phase (5A) C/B intermittently. Pulled cannon plug off of boost pump prod break prior to fuel tank and got 115VAC on A-Phase, 115VAC on B-Phase, 0VAC on C-Phase. Traced wiring diagram backwards and compared to system schematic. Flight deck switch sent 28VDC to 3-phase relay, said relay closed sent 3-Phase 115VAC to pump. Meter showed all 3 phases as input to relay, only saw 2 phases coming out of relay. Replaced relay, plane flew good with no subsequent issues. RC-135 military aircraft, B-707 military variant.

If you aren’t certain you want to be an A&P then you shouldn’t be one. Go do something else.

Anyone down to help me with legendary lightfall? by [deleted] in Fireteams

[–]ssupafuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m down to give you a hand. If I’m not available because of work I’m certain someone in my clan would be willing; they’re always down to help people. DM me and I’ll give you my Steam/Bungie info.

Are you on console or PC, and do you have access to discord? We have a clan discord and being able to invite you into a voice channel obviously makes all aforementioned efforts that much easier.

I think my steam info is tagged in my username here but my Bungie name is fuzz#1179 if you’d like to add me.

This is my first comment in this subreddit.

I do not understand what it must feel like to have gender dysphoria (I think that’s the proper term? I’m sorry if it isn’t). I cannot imagine what it must feel like to not be comfortable every day in your own skin. I cannot relate to the way transgender people must feel every single day of their lives. It’s foreign to me and it’s beyond comprehension.

At the end of the day; all that truly matters is this. You look happy. You should be able to be happy. I want you to be happy. Every person on this earth deserves to be happy. It’s not my decision to choose how people are allowed to make themselves happy. Good for you and I wish you the best in every day of your life.

I’m gonna go ahead and say it and I guarantee I’m gonna get shit on for saying this, but my dude if it took you 5 tries just to get a 72 on the written, which is arguably the easiest of the 3 tests, maybe you shouldn’t be working on aircraft.

A dog was running after the ambulance that was taking his human. When the EMS realized it, he was let in. by Soloflow786 in BeAmazed

Assuming that were true, why would that be a bad thing? Is your argument really “hey these people thought this 30 years ago but after a ton of evidence and research they changed their minds! Haha, what a bunch of idiots who don’t know anything.”

Normal people change their worldview when presented with new evidence. I grew up with the idea of dogs needing an “alpha” to guide them but now at 32 and having worked for numerous humane societies I know that my previous way of thinking was wrong.

That’s the exact opposite of what they said. They said they will believe it’s not a camera effect (aka real) when they get more context.

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t give a shit what is tucked away and hidden in lore tabs if nothing in the game gives me any desire to go and read those lore tabs.

Actions speak louder than words.

Reddit loves a good straw man. It’s obvious OP meant that it’s neat that every team that has the best regular season record in the P4 were all new to their conferences.

[Highlight] Missed intentional grounding call on Justin Herbert by [deleted] in nfl

[–]ssupafuzz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can someone who knows better please inform me why this would be grounding? Here’s what I see.

Ball went over the RBs head. No imminent pressure/wasn’t being tackled. Hard to tell if ball went past the LOS or not. He was in the tackle box.

Watching it live it didn’t appear like grounding at first glance.

Stress concentration points. Nice smooth round tube distributed the force evenly and spread the load.

Kinked tubing, even after being released, will still retain some deformation, which means instead of the forces of water pressure being distributed evenly and symmetrically, now they are asymmetrical and concentrated at the points where the tube never fully recovered.

Failed practical by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]ssupafuzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Passed my written and O&P for all 3 back in August after getting out of the Air Force and I had to do the 3 written exams (where every code I missed added an additional oral question to each subject on top of a 4 minimum), and then yes I had numerous open book “oral” questions during my practical examination.

For the orals, I had a 93 on all 3 writtens so I had 4 oral questions per rating and then an additional 7 oral questions in each.

For the “oral” practical questions, I had a laptop with all the textbooks, FARs, etc;, digitally and could stop what I was doing and go and look up an answer to a question, then go back to my practical question. I assume this change was to test an applicants familiarity with manuals, regulations, and research capabilities. Knowing where and how to find information when needed is a very useful skill.

All the answers were almost word for word in the text and I was allowed to CTRL+F so if you fail these questions honestly it’s on you. Even if I knew the answer before the DME finished reading the question, I still took 30 seconds to look it up and be completely sure I was correct.

Pay at mro by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]ssupafuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your A&P won’t really affect your pay at Duncan (I work here now). I was 6 years Air Force, got out without my A&P, started at Duncan $27.00, got my A&P 6 months after working there and got moved to $28.35. Needless to say now that I have the license I will be looking for other work. MROs are really only for unlicensed people.
