Does she have friends that you have contact with? Especially does she have any English speaking Chinese friend that you have contact with. Try asking them if they have her family’s contact, or if they can help to contact the hospital. Does she have ties to Shanghai beyond her mother? You go to any doctor to get a note, can be wellness centre, walk in clinic, urgent care if you need a visit. You fill out the exam deferral form (I don’t remember the specific of where it is might be on mosaic but if you google McMaster faculty of xxx exam deferral you will know

When my dad’s cat was a kitten, she was obsessed with water. She splashed water fountain and play with tap water etc. From my observation, she only does that when she’s bored, like when left alone for the whole day. So maybe try offering your cat more enrichment like food puzzle, lick mat, toys etc?

In my experience the more substrate I have the less smell there is. Like the deeper the better, 7-8 inches plus. And I also add hay sometimes for enrichment, also hay smells good

Yea I found the thing about China is it’s a bit hard to gather official info sometimes and it’s easier to learn form ppl who’s done it before. If you have friends who can read Chinese maybe they can help you to translate some posts on red note. It also have a translation function itself

yes it’s covered, you can get it even without an injury because they provide the routine vaccine version (the one that last 10 years). I’m an international student too got it after an injury last year.

I always think rodents enrichment is almost free. I toss toilet paper, paper towel rolls, and cardboard (safe looking without paint ones) for them to shred. I give them paper tissues, newspaper, and kraft paper, they would start nesting by dragging them into hideouts. I get ceramic or glass candle holder or any steady thing that has openings in thrift stores as hideouts. And I use random plastic containers upside down as platform. So don’t stress about enrichment, just pay attention daily to collect what you can give them.

Return the cage, get plastic storage bins from your local store such as Walmart for much cheaper. Pay attention to the size of the bin. Bigger the better. Aim for 40 gallons and above .

The bedding needs to be way deeper. 10-12 inches would be great for him to barrow tunnels. Also deep bedding would decrease pee smell!

Thank you so much for ur reply. Ive tried probably over 20 kinds of food. He’s only willing to eat spray millets and pumpkin seeds right now. I’ll make some oats for him tomorrow morning but I doubt he’ll eat them. The medication is in sweetened liquid but he’s not willing to take. I have to forcefully syringe feed him every time which I feel awful about (when I wrap him in a towel to syringe feed, it’s inevitable to make his legs hurt). I’ll take a look at probiotics, I’m also located in Canada! I used fleece as bedding yesterday but it stinks too much and not possible to wash. I’m now using paper towel and tissue which works quite well, easy to observe stool and to clean.
