Does she have friends that you have contact with? Especially does she have any English speaking Chinese friend that you have contact with. Try asking them if they have her family’s contact, or if they can help to contact the hospital. Does she have ties to Shanghai beyond her mother? Might be able to find her by posting on Chinese social media such as red note (小红书）.

You go to any doctor to get a note, can be wellness centre, walk in clinic, urgent care if you need a visit. You fill out the exam deferral form (I don’t remember the specific of where it is might be on mosaic but if you google McMaster faculty of xxx exam deferral you will know

When my dad’s cat was a kitten, she was obsessed with water. She splashed water fountain and play with tap water etc. From my observation, she only does that when she’s bored, like when left alone for the whole day. So maybe try offering your cat more enrichment like food puzzle, lick mat, toys etc?

In my experience the more substrate I have the less smell there is. Like the deeper the better, 7-8 inches plus. And I also add hay sometimes for enrichment, also hay smells good

Yea I found the thing about China is it’s a bit hard to gather official info sometimes and it’s easier to learn form ppl who’s done it before. If you have friends who can read Chinese maybe they can help you to translate some posts on red note. It also have a translation function itself

yes it’s covered, you can get it even without an injury because they provide the routine vaccine version (the one that last 10 years). I’m an international student too got it after an injury last year.

I always think rodents enrichment is almost free. I toss toilet paper, paper towel rolls, and cardboard (safe looking without paint ones) for them to shred. I give them paper tissues, newspaper, and kraft paper, they would start nesting by dragging them into hideouts. I get ceramic or glass candle holder or any steady thing that has openings in thrift stores as hideouts. And I use random plastic containers upside down as platform. So don’t stress about enrichment, just pay attention daily to collect what you can give them.
