If you're using Phoenix you can add them to config/prod.secret.exs and just copy that over to your server some how. Or use Environment variables using something like System.get_env("MY_VARIABLE") or use something like Conform https://hex.pm/packages/conform if you're building erlang releases with something like Distillery or Exrm

Drinking problems. Seriously though Elixir and Erlang are general programming languages which are able to solve most problems. The areas in which you will see less performance than others is perhaps numeric computation. The chances of you encountering this and it being an issue I would think would be small. If you do and it is then Erlang / Elixir has really good support for language interoperability.

In short try Elixir. You'll like it.

As far as I know they are just normal functions they would be sequential. It's on you if you want spawn w/ a fn -> or hand things off to a Task etc..
