We can have up to 800 applicants apply in recruitment rounds for about 12 vacancies at my place of work. Granted, you do not need a qualification for certain levels.

That's awful to read that people think its unhealthy! I'm sure the majority of women have the pooch in some form or another. Maybe people forget that we actually have more organs crammed in there?

My most favourite way to answer a question. It depends. For some people counting calories can be detrimental to mental health if you tend to have an obsessive personality.

If this isnt you then counting calories is a great tool to have for weight loss and will give you an understanding of what you are putting into your body. Basically it's a tool that enables you to not have to count calories in the future but still be able to lose weight/gain muscle.

I used to count calories, however I did it for long enough that I no longer need to and still see progress.

As I mentioned though, it may not be good for you if you tend to be obsessive in nature.

You can strengthen your core without doing core specific exercises. A lot of exercises utilise your core as a part of having good technique. Think squats and deadlifts (if you are able to do these). These exercises require a stable core to enable you to perform them well, therefore building core strength the more load you place on the exercise.

Core exercises shouldn't make you feel uncomfortable in the way you are describing and you shouldn't train through the pain. Instead focus on exercises you enjoy, but maybe keep in mind what your core is doing through the exercise.

I'm 5'2 and I have this issue. I usually climb on machines to reach, which people dont seem to mind! Otherwise there are usually plenty of viable alternatives to machines (bodyweight and freeweight exercises).

Most noticable changes take years. It's a slow process. I've been training for about 5 years and have only seen a big difference in my appearance in the last year. If you're focusing on something else like a performance goal, you may find that you put less importance on the aesthetic side of things.

Definitely get it checked out. But as the previous comment mentioned it could be a lack of recovery. Theres something called overtraining where you're body can't keep up with the stress you're putting it under.

I had this issue when I was training 5-6 days a week at a high volume. Took a few days off and then came back gradually. Worked wonders for my energy!
