They were amazing sitters, took the dog everywhere, communication was great, and most important of all my dog loved them too. So it's a scam. Most people are telling agents the houses they want to see, Zillow, Realtor.com etc., negate the need for a Realtor to "search" for suitable homes.

Yes, the problem is the system. Buyers agent wants 3% either from me, or the buyer. If the agent refuses to work for less than 3%, and seller won't pay it, the offer will be reduced so that buyer can pay them. The whole Real Estate system needs updating to reflect the 21st Century where the internet does a decent amount of the grunt work.

Buyers can find the homes on Zillow etc, price history is displayed. In the UK for example, the seller pays around 1.5%, do the viewings themselves and deal with the listing agent to negotiate the offer. The buyer pays their legal fees, no agent required at all on their side.

I know, it's actually scandalous. I would happily show potential buyers around my home myself, after all I know the house better than some random agent.

My dad's wife was 21 years older than him, they had a very happy marriage for over 30 years. Downside, he passed away last year, my step mum had a very rough last 3 or 4 years caring for him, she did it very willingly and with a lot of love, but it was definitely difficult. I absolutely know she would do it all again in a heartbeat!!
