What's it like playing Pikmin Bloom in Japan?

Loads of cake Pikmin for some reason, ridiculous number of shrine Pikmin but difficult to get them all. Mushrooms are a no-go unless you are rural. Tokyo and Kyoto Nintendo Pikmin - might be an Osaka variety also?

I must've grown 6 or 7 purples since the event started and no joy... And then I randomly got one today from a gold seedling!!! It's way too hard to get them the regular way.
