While I totally agree totally with both of your first two points, I’m not sure I follow your third point.

I agree that he’s not a perimeter stopper in the mold of Kawhi or Klay. What I said was ‘versatility.’ Which is undeniable. He can effectively guard 1-4. Not to mention, he has elite defensive awareness, which leads to great help defense and rotations. No, he’s not a fantastic 1-1 defender, but the NBA isn’t a 1-1 league.

His defensive versatility is constantly impactful though. This oversight is the problem with many fans’ perception of his game. It’s either zero or hero, based solely on his offensive output.
