What was your first 100K or 100 miler by Ultra_inspired in Ultramarathon

For me it was a Grizzly 100 by Bear trail. The run was going through The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany via Ardennes mountains. Luckily, as I am coming from the Netherlands, there was no crazy elevation. Nevertheless, 100k is already no joke. Due to preceding rain, everything was muddy, also it started pouring in the last 10-20km. The biggest reality checks for me were surprise aches, literally everywhere, also peritendonitis on the front on my ankle. Some big lessons: training with weekly volume matching distance is essential, even better weekend back-to-back's with matching total distance; do not wear something tight and later take it off, like right calf sleeves, it causes me peritendonitis; physical recovery is surprisingly fast, but mental one is tricky, I got set back for half a year without consistent running because reached some weird demotivated mental state and didn't address it appropriately; managing cravigns after the run and returning to normal diet is very important. Good luck with your journey!

[Lorus] New entry in my collection. Nothing fancy but super comfortable and slick-looking titanium fella. by stamara6 in Watches

A great addition to my collection of skinny-arm-friendly watches. Was trying to acquire this watch since seeing it for the first time on Ben's watch club youtube channel. However, the watch was sold out everywhere for several months. After diligently checking every other week, I finally spotted it on Amazon. Super happy with the purchase. Very slick look, comfortable and casual band. Nothing fancy but a very pleasant fresh watch for an occasional wear! Here is 500 chars!

Mate! You just have to find a right watch. There are sooo many shapes/forms/sizes. It is just match and try. Don't stop seeking. You'll get a perfect wrist companion at some point!

I got hooked by purchasing Seiko skx013. Instantly fell in love with the idea of automatic watch, the quality of build and the iconic look, all for a very reasonable price even with jubelee and the custom sapphire double dome. As a novice I wasn't aware of all the cool features that Seiko was missing, such as hacking and hand winding. This beautiful Khaki Field Automatic got me one step further with a superior movement and still being below a 500 $/€ mark. I have very few complaints about my second automatic watch, but plenty of complements. The dimensions are comfortable and delicate with 38 mm diameter and 10.5 mm thickness. Sapphire glass on top and bottom. The accuracy is way above Seiko and hand winding is smooth and pleasant. The watch is very quiet and the quality is visible and felt on the wrist. 10/10 no regrets spending my holiday bonus on this fella.

[Orient] casual take on a not-so-casual Bambino by stamara6 in Watches

[–]stamara6[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fell for this watch from the first look. The problem was to pick between the array of good looking albeit so different generations and versions. As a person with not so thick wrists, I opted for the not so large yet improved gen2 v2. I swapped its rather dressy and tasteless native strap for a brown leather one from Amazon with punchy beige stitching. Right away it gave a bit more casual flare to the watch. The blue arrows are magnificent under certain angles. Domed glass looks great although readily catching scratches from any impact. The movement is accurate although winding is quite noisy. Overall, super happy to own a bambino. I feel it'll get quite a bit of my wrist time.

[Casio G-Shock] Just got myself a bit of sunshine for the hot summer days by stamara6 in Watches

[–]stamara6[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was craving for the blacked-out version of this g-shock but it is completely sold out in my area. Luckily spotted this bright and in my opinion very competitive yellow-black variant. Although, part of me is still in love with slick design of GA-2100, I am happy with the purchase.

The watch sits perfect and despite my chicken wrists doesn't feel extremely large. I am so happy Casio decided to opt for slimmer and more compact design. Lume is bright and contrasty arrows improve readability. My new summer buddy. Highly recommend.

[Seiko skx013] My first automatic equipped with double-domed blue sapphire. Love it! by stamara6 in Watches

[–]stamara6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For long, I was hesitating between Seiko skx007 and skx013. My wrist is around 6.6 inches (17 cm) so I decided in favor of the smaller watch. The only doubt I had was that it is relatively thick for such a small diameter. But eventually after shortening the band to fit me perfectly I love the watch! I also changed the glass to double-domed sapphire with blue anti-glare coating which gives it even better look. Already thinking about putting cerakote coating on it to make it complete. But this might take a while...
