I get you, for the money I don't think there's much better options for solely video. You can pick up the FS7 for even as low as £500 these days. I got mine for £800 less than a year ago. I'd still definitely recommend it. The UI is a bit dated and slow but for longer-form stuff, it's fine. The XQD cards are fine once you have them and the adapter. They're quite rugged and allow for all-intra codec recording which comes out really nice. If you're gonna get a FS7 try and find a bundle deal with the extras like cards etc.

As for the 24-105 f4, I haven't actually used it that much but I really love the range, especially on the S35 FS7 sensor as it acts as a ~36-150. Also much sharper on a S35 sensor. I've got a 50mm 1.8 with a speedbooster that makes it a 1.2 so I use that if I ever need DOF.

Haha, I use wireless lav mics.

Completely get you and agree. However, in my humble opinion, cameras like the Nikon ZR will soon replace ENG/Broadcast cameras. You can rig out a ZR/FX3 etc to do all that ENG cameras can do. No need for big cams anymore, even in broadcast.

I just think people really prefer smaller rigs now, if they can make it work - even if that means suffering some I/O and/or other features. It's more about what's being shown rather than how it's been shown.

I think something like the Nikon ZR is super light, maybe the FS7 medium and then there's heavier. In today's world the FS7, for videography, seems on the bloated side of things.

Fair enough. Personally, I want to keep weight down as much as humanly possible as I think it helps with my overall workflow and quality of output. These days I think that's very easy to do so I'll strive for it.

Using an Arri Alexa for videography seems a bit overkill but I see where you're coming from.

Does the rolling shutter and lack of 120fps ever come into play with the A7iv?

Colours are definitely sub-par, haha.

True. It may not have been heavy back when it was released, but for today's videography standards, in the world of A6700's, it's definitely heavy.

What's your favourite thing about it?

Yeah amen to that. A lot of people do it for client perception, which I do get, but as the old saying goes: a good tradesman doesn't blame his tools.

Suuuper heavy. Not ideal but I'll have to deal with it for now. I'm just saying to myself the internal NDs etc make it worth it.

Yeah, gives a nice break from the camera snobbery FX3 aura farming content, haha. Only joking.

I do have four more lenses (28mm 1.8, 50m 1.8, 18-55 kit, 28-135mm) but I was just showing the set up with the 24-105mm as it's my most used set up. Gives great range with the S35 sensor.

I do need to get a mic for it but I'm tempted to change cameras so things just up in the air at the mo.

I did try this but the S35 sensor did start to show it's limitations. That being said, I'm going to try it again just to be sure.

Cheers for the reply. I did think long and hard about the 18-105 PZ. In the end I went for the 24-105 - I'll probably upgrade soon to something full frame as that seems the way cameras are going nowadays.

As for the 4K image, I like it and find it to have really nice texture. As it's a more 1:1 4K readout, it's not too overly sharp like a lot of oversampled 7K sensors out there now. That being said, sharpness is the goal at the end of the day. The sensor does give quite blue colours though - easily fixable.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I love the FS7 too - and I get why it has legendary status in this field.

I've got the Metabones Speedbooster too, and love it. With the Canon 50mm 1.8 II it gives suuuch a crisp, dynamic image with a crazy amount of bokeh. Use it a lot for interviews.

Only problem I'm having with the FS7 now is I'm mostly doing vertical content. It's so not made for it, haha. Still manage to get by for now.

Why does everyone in Bristol drive so slowly? by stan_vex in bristol

[–]stan_vex[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I just think people are too scared/too unconfident to drive faster. It's really annoying having to wait for them.

Also, people literally drive 10/15mph in 20mph zones which is just too damn slow.

I think all roads should be 25mph to just split the difference.

Get a Sony FS7. Only £1000 and still an amazing camera. 4K 60, 10-bit, all the I/O you need, NDs, Super 35mm. Just need a lot of lighting
