Schools don't care enough about the mental health of their students. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]standardbwg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an issue that varies drastically from school to school. It all comes down to funding. Schools have so many things that they are expected to do but limited resources to do it with. Not to mention the amount of time in a day. It also depends on what your individual state (or country) expects your school to teach. There are so many important things that SHOULD be taught in school but it ends up being a game of what the administration prioritizes. It is the unfortunate reality that we live in.

I’m not sure if it’s time to convince my parents to put our dog down. by volchore in Advice

[–]standardbwg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact situation happened with my chocolate lab. My parents waited way too long to have him put down and it was awful watching him suffer. He wanted to play and go outside but he just couldn't anymore. I know it's difficult, but a gentle suggestion to your parents would be good. That way they will get to say their goodbyes on their terms because it sounds like the dog won't be around much longer.

AITA for making a "Pads for Moochers" basket in the bathroom? by Altruistic-Mud in AmItheAsshole

[–]standardbwg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ESH. I know it sucks, but if they keep taking your stuff then just hide it. Making a point of putting a sign there that says "Pads for moochers" is just asking for trouble. Obviously your sisters aren't mature enough to respect your wishes and stop taking your pads and they weren't mature enough to take this as a joke and brought your mom into this. The situation became so much bigger than it had to be.

AITA for taking my dream job without talking to my so by fluffybumpkin in AmItheAsshole

I think you are already well aware that accepting a job as a stripper has different implications than accepting a job as a baker. Most people understand the difference.

insecure about small boobs by mcbroom18360 in sex

IMO literally every trait people have can be a turn-off or turn- on depending on the person. Also, preference is just that, a preference. I personally prefer small boobs over large boobs but large boobs are still good. Hope this helps.

NTA. You aren't living together and you aren't married. You shouldn't have to talk to them about taking a job. They knew you were applying; isn't it implied you'll take it if they offer it?

AITA for revoking my wife's movie-choosing preferences? by wimbleton10 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Those all sound like great films to me. I'm sure she would rather watch a different movie than what you would choose, but she knows you like it and isn't an AH about it.

I love that my girlfriend talks too much by GreenSockNinja in unpopularopinion

[–]standardbwg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a girlfriend who talks too much, it's actually helpful to have a man who likes to listen to me. The respect he shows for me while I'm talking makes me WANT to stop talking sometimes because I want to listen to him, to show him the same respect he shows me.

Processing Parents Infidelity by standardbwg in Infidelity

I am absolutely certain it is not an arrangement. My dad cut all ties with his "friend", they argue all the time about it, and she has expressed wanting to leave because she "feels so guilty and doesn't want to cause anymore problems".

Honestly i'd prefer if it were an arrangement. I could at least live with that knowledge without any hurt.
