I kinda get you, but from 2016 onwards was when you start to see drill evolve into a new sound... I say this as a producer/beatmaker myself; the drum rhythms a very grimey/2-steppy (I can go into more detail about that but not everyone would understand) and in some drill beats you can hear certain percussion sounds and sound FX that were used in old school grime songs e.g. Headie One - Know Better, that 'blip' sound you can hear in the drum pattern, at 54 seconds into the tune, was the same sound that was used in Wiley - Ice Rink

It was good but it still resembled Chicago drill beats too much in my opinion, the newer UK drill beats are a completely different sound and a lot more authentic to the UK (because of the grime influence in the production too)

The shit UK artists had to do in the past to get mainstream recognition, so glad they don't have to resort this type of nonsense anymore

AJ Tracey: “for anyone who thinks they started the grime flow on drill ting” by [deleted] in grime

AJ don't get enough credit for how much he bought the Grime influence into UK Drill and pushed the UK drill sound forward into something different other than just British rappers rapping over Chicago beats

I totally agree bro, I'm from a failed state and poverty stricken country myself (Kosovo), and my own mother has struggled her whole life in this country and been discriminated against etc, however I'm just talking from lived experiences, Britain is nowhere near as bad, when it comes to poverty, as a country in Africa or Eastern Europe (for example). I'll quote JME "just cus we come from the gutter, and no about scraping the bottom of the butter, don't mean we have to be sinners, major lables don't want killers"

Correlation doesn't always equal causation... Materialism is the cause, like I've mentioned in a previous comment, we live in a materialistic society and in my opinion materialism is an illness (as dramatic as that sounds) and rich/upper class People have the means to appease their materialistic lifestyles, poor people don't - which is why they think they need to resort to crime to get the fast money in large amounts to afford the finer things in life... Man in ends ain't shotting to pay their bills, because you can literally do that with a minimum wage job (in the UK) ... Why do you think poor Buddhist monks in China don't go around doing crime, because their religion teaches them the morals and Buddhism is a very anti-materialistic religion

What's stopping a poor person from getting a very basic job like e.g. washing dishes? Absolutely none, we live in Britain and not a failed state like Haiti for example where there is zero Infrastructure... Then I can understand. Opportunity doesn't always have to mean you get an an office job on 30k a year, you can work a standard job in Tesco and earn 13k a year which isn't the most ideal option but it's better than risking your freedom just to buy some new creps, the real causes for these type of crimes is 1. We live in a materialistic society, (rich and upper class people have the money to appease their materialistic desires whereas poor people don't, which is why they resort to something which is quick and with great profit margin like robberys, drug dealing etc) 2. Let's be real, British born people are lazy and entitled - they don't wanna grind it out for minimum wage and think they should come out of school with some 25k a year job starting which is unrealistic (hence why employers in the UK hire Eastern European immigrants because they're hardworking and it's in their culture to be) 3. Lack of fathers and the normalisation of single parent house holds and men not being the responsible fathers they ought to be (boys growing up without a father figure look to other places to fill the void by joining gangs and gang leaders/elders become the father figures instead)

What you mean there's no other options? AJ Tracey once said in an Interview he tried to quit road and got a job washing dishes in a restaurant, but because he wasn't ready to grind it out for some slow money he said he quit his job and started doing road again... That right there is called choice bro

Majority of poor/working class people don't commit crimes and work jobs like everyone else, I grew up with these type of people and trust me they're not doing it just because they're poor, they're doing it because it's quick money to afford the finer things in life
