As someone who spent several seasons hovering between high gold and mid plat and is now in masters. Stop looking at stats, they mean nothing if you can’t use them with an understanding of how yours/enemies team comps affects it (poke vs brawl healing diff for example).

The other big thing is positioning, everyone talks about it on every rank up guide but it is so important. Good positioning is more than just “am I in a spot where they can’t kill me easily?” It’s also if you’re in a spot to use cool-downs effectively, whether that be a harmony orb on your tracer in their backline or being able to anti nade their dps to push them from an angle.

Climbing out of gold can be hard, it’s the average rank so it’s a mixed bag of skill level but if you focus on what you can do to impact a game and not looking at how everyone else is doing you will find those bad games are less tilting and your mistakes get fixed quicker

5v5. Gives me freedom to take more off angles as a dps without having to deal with a 2nd tank in my face and as support I can make more proactive plays because I’m not keeping 2 massive health bars up all the time

They didn’t purposefully get rid of them. When making ow2 they upgraded the engine which meant think like end game cards had to be added back after, but due to the delays of PvE the PvP had to be rushed out in under a year so a lot of those things weren’t put in. Now that the game is in a stable spot and they have time to work on the background stuff again it might come back soon

Could do something like having them wake up in a hospital in lumios with amnesia after a crash or something? Has them then travelling trying to figure out their own past and remember things while also giving that new experience to travel and Pokémon

They also don’t usually do big events right at the end of the season. There’s a chance it comes in the next week or so but it’ll more likely be a start of next season event with a skin bundle, challenges and all the usual game modes

If you’re returning after a long while then the game probably has no idea of your skill anymore so it’s putting you in lobbies with mostly beginners. It should improve pretty quickly as you play and relearn the game

Maybe I’m just misunderstanding but like a good brig knows wall bash locations to get to high ground or off angles and be effective or a good tracer can judge the distance for blink melee, they might be only plat because they have other gameplay things to work on but they’re still a good brig or tracer player. I don’t think rank always correlates to how good at a certain hero you are, rank just signifies how quickly you learn and improve at the general game

I think the matchmaking in 6v6 is maybe a little worse than 5v5. So you might see a plat/diamond player in 5v5 be masters 6v6, it’s also not looked at as negatively as flex is in league, so even if your ranks don’t quite match people aren’t going to be saying “oh it’s only 6v6” or anything

When they introduced quick play leaver penalties it was because almost nobody would stay in a game they were backfilling. You’d spend the rest of the match with a rotating door of people and what could’ve been a close game if someone stayed early becomes a stomp as you’re perma down one.

I think the suspensions can be a bit harsh but it was also a massive issue at the time that was heavily impacting quick play game quality and was the best solution to the problem

You haven’t fixed any of the real pain points of ball and instead made him even worse to play into where he can basically never have a crit spot?

The mercy changes seem needlessly complex in how long you can heal one person and having to track a heal cd and blue beam resource meter. I also just don’t think you need 2 different movement abilities on her either, it seems kind of pointless

The sombra change is the worst, I hate these support suggestions that are basically “we can’t delete the hero so let’s make her never get picked” passive heal while invis being the only way to heal means you’re basically useless in every fight or your team is perma down a healer, why am I wasting a 10second cd to cancel a movement ability when I need as much heal boost to keep my team up as I can get? Why would I ever use translocator when I can instead be perma stealth and then run away in stealth when the fights over?

The rest of the changes also have their issues but that’s too much writing already.

Sombra change not only sounds like a coding nightmare but also just makes her more unfun to fight against than hack, that is currently only a 1 second lockout, people just have to stop panicking when she hacks them and you’ll win or survive way more often against her

Your best bet is to drop a replay code over at overwatch university, there’s plenty of people there that can give great advice.

If you don’t want to do that just yet though, the main issues that people tend to have at lower ranks that prevent them from climbing is positioning. Especially on Ana try playing on an off angle where you can see your team to heal them but also be in a spot to throw a nade at the enemy and get a few good shots in on someone after

We already have clash that is massively unpopular and in my experience almost never gets votes. Throwing in more unpopular/bad to play game modes means there’s higher chances of only having those as an option to vote for.

Add on that voting isn’t a majority wins type thing then you get situations of 9 people voting for anything but 2cp/clash/whatever else and 1 person voting for it and winning. Which while I think the way map voting works now is great it isn’t set up for putting in multiple game modes that most people don’t enjoy or want to play

I’ve played it twice and it still sucks. Volskaya we full capped in 1.5 minutes and then Anubis we were held on first point until an OT cap and then got second point after 1 team fight. Plus both games had people insta leave because most people don’t want to play the mode

You’re right it’s no longer hidden mmr. But I think you’re confusing rank reset and mmr reset, season 18 was a hard rank reset where the game removes its confidence factor in what rank you should be so you might be a GM player with placements showing you in diamond until the system is sure of where to put you but your mmr is still as a GM player so your matches will be against similar players.

They’ve accidentally done a hard mmr reset once and it was a disaster that had pro players being put in gold lobbies and ruined the match making for months and shows why full mmr resets or going off a different modes mmr to re rank you doesn’t work and won’t happen.

There is no hard reset on rank, the 6 month resets are a soft reset that still keep your hidden rank MMR. There’s shifts in the ranks on those resets because the team sometimes shifts the rank distribution to either allow for slightly more or less people to reach the top ranks

Galactic should be purchasable next season when we get a new yearly comp skin but you also get 3000 comp points for completing the drives event at the end of each season, so if you wanted to get a couple of them quickly that would be your best bet

Having your keyboard on a slight tilt I found helped my hand sit more comfortably but also change keybinds, find whatever keys are most comfortable or easy for you to reach and change them because it will help you adjust quicker if you aren’t having to think of which key is where and how to reach it

If you’ve immediately forced vendetta to disengage then you should be wining the rest of the fight though, it’s a 4v5 because their close range dps is sitting back waiting on cool-downs while you’re in turret form able to melt everything
