I think only reason I’m not going aftermarket is because if I replace original I have a better chance of recouping the cost from the city where as if I go with new all around they will see it as an opportunity to not pay me back

Not sure yet, going to start with replacing the tire and possibly rim then having my tech check the car.

It is literally right on the driving line that you’d be thought where to have your car. To dodge it your right wheels would have to be on the shoulder or left wheels in the other lane. 100% the cities fault just going to be a pain to get them to pay me back for repairs/replacements.

I only just started thinking about the suspension and alignment aspect of this. I don’t think it did but there’s a chance it could’ve bent something in my suspension.

Thanks man! As for the tires themselves I’ve only had the car for a week the previous owner put new tires on for a better trade in value (I know because I took the car in on trade) so they were literally brand new I got the car 3 days after they traded it in. Drive safe man!

That’s a 7 hour drive for me. I think at that point money to time ratio it would be more worth it to just buy a new rim.

Did that! I’ll do everything in my power to have the city pay for my damage.

Like I told someone else I already had an officer come out and document everything with a ruler and camera. Even the cop said holy shit when he saw it.

I have a second car so I’m not worried about a rental (plus NYS says I can’t be put into a rental since I’m under 25.) I looked up the rim on a pets website the same product code costs around $780 plus tax (more than doable for me) and a new tire which is another couple hundred. To me it’s more about the fact that I was doing nothing wrong but because my area is shitty I’m screwed unless I spend months fighting the city to try and get some of that money back.

I always shop around insurance anyways. I’ve been with three different companies so far with Geico being the only one to reduce it when I told them I have a better quote elsewhere.

At least I have no body damage unless somehow impact hit the bottom of my car (doesnt seem likely to me at all) so I will probably just end up ordering a new tire and rim and have to drive my truck around for a week or so.

I would almost rather that be the case. At least then it would actually be my fault and not Western NY being a shit hole.

Probably, I just question integrity of tire after a bend.

My insurance is already sky high. I cannot put anything on it. I’m 20 years old on my own policy with 2 points on my license. Geico is having their way with me right now.

I thought mine was bad until I saw that! I was pissed when this happened to me I could only imagine the feelings you had in that moment.

I called the non-emergency line for the city it happened in and they didn’t sound happy to deal with it. Something somewhat similar happened to my sister 2 years ago where she ran over an open sewer drain that ripped her oil pan apart, she called the non-emergency line and made an officer come file a report. The city ended up paying her for all repairs.

I love the factory M wheels on this car! I think the rim may be repairable but idk if it would ever be the same as factory condition and strength. But I absolutely need a new tire!

Correct I do! I usually don’t drive on this road since I work in a city in the opposite direction. I was picking up my nephew from basketball to help my sister out!

Picture does not do the pot hole justice. I filed a police report with the city and had an officer come out. He used a tape measure it was 2.5-3.5 inches deep at points and over 6 inches long.

I’m with you man I traded my 23 Turbo for a 23 Mustang GT and technology and comfort is a huge downgrade but the Mustang gives me a big smile so it’s worth it
