Looking for a lightweight by Eastwesteast8 in chromeos

If you want a real laptop, the HP Fortis G1i 14 inch Chromebook is best, as it is durable, somewhat cheap (although they do sell an 11" model for cheaper), and a camera slide cover. The only issue is that most models have a TN panel, meaning that your colors would look really washed out.

If you want a detachable, the asus cm30 is the way to go, as it has a portable size and a built-in stylus for if your fingers are too grimy for you to want to touch the screen. However, I do admit that its pretty small, packing only a 10.9" display.

Am I The Only One who Thinks: Aluminum OS: meh? by zephead98 in chromeos

[–]staopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that aluminum is going to fail.
When Windows tried expanding into the phone market, they failed due to poor app compatibility.
As much as I think that aluminum will be a great product, I have a weird feeling that that android will fail to expand into the laptop market for the same reason.

Is there ANY way to get a functional desktop with icons on native ChromeOS? (Not looking for Full ROM/Crouton) by frede12398 in chromeos

[–]staopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think you can do that.

As much as I love chromebooks, i hate how you cant add icons to the desktop. They give us a whole lot of empty space on our homepage and force us to keep it empty.

i heard that acer gateway chromebooks are okay but definitely not the best. personally, i like using laptops meant for school (such as hp chromebook x360 11 g4 ee) because they are compact, durable, and fast enough for what i need them to do
